Wish it was that I'm lazy. Work stuff getting in the way.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #183: The Final Approach To Off-Season

Starting to look like I won't be in Tampa. :(

Haven't given up all hope but "life" is getting in the way.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #183: The Final Approach To Off-Season

Just signed Mrs Goldy and I up to be Bus Chaperones for Jr's Senior Party. Not sure why no one else jumped on that opportunity as it only lasts from the school to the event location so ~8:30-9 PM. All the other slots are 9-12 or 12-8 or something like that. I'm too old for that $lit. Maybe the other parents want to be a part of the party? I want to drop Jr off and pick him back up and sleep in between.

For our senior party, which was already five years ago now :eek most of the senior parents worked the late shift..we had a hypnotist at like 3:00 am or something, I think that was an incentive for chaperonning parents as well.

But you're the only Q fan I "know", I expect you to be there.
Oh sure... lay the guilt trip on me now.

Trust me, if there's an way I can finagle it, I'll be there. Realistically, it's not looking good. It's not easy being the responsible adult these days.

6 more days here. 4 days of work. Unfortunately, I will be joining you in Tampa and not Key West.

Responsible adulting is overrated!!!

A friend and I almost did a hell-run to BOS last year, it depended on if MN made it to the title game. Basically going to show up with just the clothes on our back (had places to stay, planned on buying toiletries at the hotel/etc). One night trip.

But then, adulting happened (and MN didn't make it, either).

I've done Roadies like that. Heck, in 2010 me and some friends did a roadie to the Amarillo area in Texas in a passenger van. Took turns driving and sleeping on the way, showed up at West Texas just when the tailgating lots opened up, and might I add, them guys can throw down when it comes to tailgating. Somebody there brought out a barrel of King Crab legs. enjoyed the GVSU win, helped another buddy who was living there in Texas at the time haul his puking drunk roommate out of the stadium and over to his car so that the drunk wouldn't have to be hauled off to the local drunk tank to dry out. The buddy in Texas was in a walking boot with crutches so he couldn't drunk walk his buddy out. stopped with some other alums for dinner there, told one A-hole with us that he needs to sleep first before we were going to let him drive again on that trip, he had been up roughly 36 hours at that point, and then pointed the van back to Michigan. Good times.

Homer and Virgil have nothing on you! This sounds like an epic trip! I'll bet it impressed the locals, and got you a lot of free beer.
It sounds like the West Texas A&M Buffaloes, in Canyon, TX. I know that stretch of highway well, driving it on my Lubbock-OK City round trips about twice a month from 2006-2009. 360 degree horizon, most places.

Good morning, Lodge!
