Cool! I didn't know river commerce was part of what you do, too. Three questions, if you don't mind:

What's the best assignment location you've worked in that job?
The worst?
The one you'd most like to work?
(Or does it work like that?)

Okay, that's four questions.

River commerce (specifically petrochemicals transportation).

Basically, I'm regular on a specific boat, and generally we've been on the same contract since I started in 2011. My personal favorite river that I've worked on with this company is likely the Tennessee River, although the Ohio isn't far behind. Both very scenic, and pretty easy 'driving', though the Ohio can get nasty with flood waters.

Least favorite? Intracoastal waterway from Houston to New Orleans. And I've heard it only gets worse the further West you get from Houston (I've been as far as Freeport, TX).

I'd like to go further up the Tennessee toward Chattanooga or Knoxville, or go up the Cumberland River to Nashville. We don't really have much at all for contracts to either of those places though.

I'm guessing it rained around 4pm? The week my family went there as a kid, and my aunt (who lived in Gainesville at the time) told us it would rain at that time. Every day. And she was right.

It might be a bit too early for the "set your clock to it" storms, but it isn't too far from that stretch of time. Usually April-October or so.

In other news, the "entirely too early and most likely not quite accurate" forecast for Frozen Four shows mostly sunny and around 85 for the Semis. 74 and partly sunny for off day.

Cool! Have they maintained their old school loyalties, or are they more Aggies now?

Thanks! That's a business I find interesting, and which I know almost nothing about.
Say hi to wT's family the next time you get stuck with the Houston run!

Whew! What a day.

We arrived at Disney at 7:45 this morning and we left the park shortly after 10 pm.

We had a blast. We were able to ride everything we wanted and the rides we enjoyed the most we rode three, four even five times. The longest we had to wait in a line was 15 minutes or so.

The weather was awesome until the last 2 hours. It poured hard but we were prepared and we actually had a good time in the rain.
So happy to hear that the visit was everything you guys hoped it would be!
Lots of walking though. According to my step tracking app, we walked about 13 miles today.
I've heard that the average full day at the parks usually end up around 10-15miles!

We went for Senior Week (the week after graduation in high school). It rained at 2pm every day - pleasant summer storms that passed through in a few hours

Rain is awesome. Clears out a lot of people.

Good Morning Lodge!

Judging by the 2nd line of his post, Im guessing 8. :p

Though, there was probably a thunderstorm somewhere in the state of Florida at 4PM, as well.

Don't get him bogged down in the details, he's got a story to tell! :p

My parents and brother will always be UM guys (dad and bro are alums). My brother and his wife went to UT for law school, she did undergrad there as well. So bro wT is split loyalty Longhorn/Wolverine, but always Wolverine first. My nieces are being raised as Texas and Michigan fans, although one (at age 6) has already decided she'll go to Rice and study engineering (and invent a jetpack, I get one for free 'cause I'm family).

What I'm more surprised by is that my parents have thus far remained Baltimore Ravens fans. They're from MI originally and will cheer for the Lions, but have Ravens gear and watch/listen to as many of the Ravens games as they can. Not sure if/when they'lll become Texan fans. They were in MI for 22 years, MD for 35 years, and now TX for 4 years or so.

Good morning Lodge! Happy Friday! happy Greek Independence Day! I am not wearing blue and white today. Because, well. No reason. Hopefully will get out of here relatively early tonight. I've been here late the last couple of nights. I need to pack. I sent myself a note to remember to check in online and call for a cab to pick me up in the morning. Not bringing my work laptop.

I saw a post from mookie on FB this morning that he was in State College, PA so I am assuming he is making the drive out there.

Scarlet, they're saying Saturday morning will have a rain/snow mix and again later that night. The day itself will be dry. Sunday is supposed to be dry all day. Highs in the mid-40s on Saturday, low 50s on Sunday; lows near freezing both days.

Loyalties are funny things. My dad (who finished his degree at Eastern Michigan U - go Eagles!) still flies a Michigan flag in his yard in Asheville, NC every football Saturday, and he hasn't lived in Michigan since 1982. His loyalty bred mine.

Good to know - thanks! This will help me with my packing. My flight lands around 2pm. Assuming this weather should not have any implications on my travel.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #183: The Final Approach To Off-Season

So we are really busy at this new(ish) company that I joined at start of the year. I got a former colleague to come visit on Tuesday and the boss made him an offer this morning. I hope he accepts and is as good as I think he is.

I've gotten nervous about making recommendations like this as I've had a few misses (among several hits) over the years. None as bad as the guy I got a $500 bonus for bringing in who was later fired for sexual harassment issues.:o

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #183: The Final Approach To Off-Season

I dislike Poser of the Year time because I always just assume that the only thread in the polls section is this one.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #183: The Final Approach To Off-Season

Afternoon Loj! Lewis made me come in here. ;-)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #183: The Final Approach To Off-Season

Good Afternoon, Lodge!

It is that time of year, as a graphic designer, I cringe. The design at center ice for the tournament drives me bonkers. Even worse is the break in wording and spacing. Horrible. Just horrible.

Scarlet - Let me know where you are sitting.
