Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

It is currently 59 in my house with the heat set at 68. -11.4 out an hour ago.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

Good Morning, Lodge!

You can have my apt. I don't have the vents on for the heater. Living room is above the boiler room and the bedroom is above the laundry room. We have windows cracked as it gets really warm.

Woke up to -7.9 here. Battling a touch of the flu or something with a slight fever (99.5-101.1) and can't get warm. Cranked the t-stat to 74 and currently the house is about 68 with an outside temp of -3. Tuesday is supposed to be in the 50's!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

It's -8 out now, at 8am. I woke up at 5:30am to put the heat on but didn't see how cold it actually was. It had to be about 59. I went back to bed, got up at 8am and it was still only 63.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

73 in my apt right now. It's on the lesser end of comfortable. Prefer it around 75. It's 12 outside right now, supposed to be near 40 this week! T-shirt weather!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

Morning.

Looks like I left the northern states just in time to avoid the cold snap.

I suppose I should complain that it's only going to be 33 today.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

What's wrong with all the furnaces out east? Even when it's -30 around here, my room temp is always within a degree of my thermostat's setting.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

Very sudden drop in temp overnight? don't remember this happening before and been in my house for >20 yrs

I was thinking the same thing.

Same here.

Yesterday when I woke up it was almost -20 and with the wind chill it was -30. We keep the thermostat set on 66 and that's what the temp is in the house. Yes.....we don't like it warm in our house. When we visit and or stay with family during the winter we are usually quite uncomfortable due to them having very warm/hot homes.

I'm guessing these homes are not insulated and or as energy efficient as the ones around here????????

Right now it's 12 and it feels like -5 and it's been quite a few hours since the furnace has kicked in.

Actually..........the current temp outside is quite comfortable compared to what we have been dealing with. The boys and I are getting ready to head out and do some tubing.

Edit. When we are not at home for an extended period of time (weekend or whatever) during the winter we will set the thermostat on 55 degrees or so. Yes the home is cold but within and hour or so after cranking the heat the temp rises to a comfortable level.

That's a big part of my problem. The insulation on the 1st floor is suspect at best (house was built in 1948).

In the late eighties my dad purchased a home. It was a very old house. Soon after the purchase he did a major remodel project on that house. I remember removing the paneling in the home. The insulation was saw dust and or old newspapers. The saw dust had settled to the fire breaks so in essence there was very little if any insulation. No insulation in the attic either.

Living in an apt, the temp fluctuates, given the other units that are next to me/below me. It's gone from 72 to 78 in just a couple hours before, usually in the evening when everyone is home.

Heck, if I have 1-2 people over, the temp changes a few degrees (1 BR apt).

mookie's house is like that. we he moved in he started to pull down plaster to properly insulate. girl was "no no no!! i want to move in now". ok then, she's the boss. house was 45 when mookie got up this morning. 2nd floot is warmer where we sleep so we got that goin' for us.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #182: Snow!

Excited to start the new job tomorrow, though we're off to a slow start at the moment. I just have a meeting with HR at 12:30 to go over the onboarding materials I was sent on Friday. My laptop is supposed to be delivered tomorrow morning as well.

I would hope to hear from my new boss within the first day or two, to discuss how we will start getting me my first assignments, and do some sort of conference call introduction with the team.

Are you going to have a dialogue to discuss your prime objectives? Maybe form a committee to determine focus points? ;)
