Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

Chilling. Counting down to what should be an epic Saturday. Buddy and I are hitting up a Caribbean place for lunch about an hour north before we go to a ticketed beer-release in the same town, then headed over to bbdl's to hang out until we head to the bar for a legendary cover band. The last two times we saw these guys, bbdl sang on stage with the band (per the singer's request). :D There's even a rumor that MNS is heading to town to re-unite with us. :)

For the locals...Johnny Holm in Ham Lake. :D
As I told Dillo, if someone can guarantee I get to the airport by 9:30 on Sunday (work at 8:15 that night) it will make it much more likely.
I have to admit, some of your posts about travel...I think about the movie "Up In The Air." Except a bizarro version where everything goes wrong. :o

Do you have a magic number? ;)
Makes me think "I wonder if that was mine..." :p

*breathes into bag* Its no big deal, Pat... its only an estimate of 40 inches of snow... you can survive this you can survive anything... sure the local area doesn't know how to handle a dusting... you'll be fine...

*breathes into bag* WE'RE ALL GONNAAAA DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE *starts to sob*

Have you stocked up on milk. bread, and TP yet? :)
To be serious, I wonder what the gov't is going to do on Friday? Are they going to open as usual (with a liberal leave policy) and risk creating a traffic disaster when everyone leaves or cancel before the start and risk having little or no snow show up?

Good morning Lodge.

I can't remember the last time 320ville had a legit kick azz winter storm/blizzard. It seems like the winter weather in MN has really mellowed out the last 10, 15, 20 years or so.

You're starting in on Alzheimer's or you're just being overly nostalgic. We've had plenty of big storms over the past 10-15 years, only we're better able to handle them now so they're not such a CF as they once were. We have clothes that handle the cold better; our snow blowers have better designs; MnDOT (usually) does a better job of getting out in front of the storms; and traction control has helped keep more cars on the roads (where the Outsiders have yet to invade, at least).

You're shaking in your boots over what the UP considers an Average Thursday Dusting.

Sleeping! :)

Awake and back at work. So excited for you, les!!

Working tonight, but off Wednesday night. Guinness dinner at a local restaurant. 5 courses paired with offerings from St. James brewery. Looking forward to it as Guinness was poison of choice in college. While I probably can't drink 2 pitchers in one sitting anymore, I'm looking forward to some drinking.
I don't think a glass of that has passed my lips in my lifetime. Ick

Good afternoon. Been charting for 4 hours. Not close to done. So glad this is almost over. Not how I want to spend my day 'off'

Here at the St. Louis airport about 4 hours before my flight to Kansas City. Was actually here more than 4 hours before but when I went to drop my bag they wouldn't take it. They can't hold bags longer than 4 hours. Interesting.

Totally could've driven it faster but didn't want to take a chance given the weather. Still a bit traumatized from yesterday.

Not a fan of this airport as they only give you 20 minutes of free internet. Thankfully I have a few TV shows on my iPad plus a book. I also think I'm going to type up a travel diary.

Made it to Overland Park, KS. Supposed to get a little snow here tomorrow. Looking at weather.com, there was a chance of some precipitation around the time I would be driving to the hotel. Checked before I boarded, looked like I shouldn't have a problem. Then the pilot announces that light snow should be starting by the time we land. Made me overly stressed the whole flight. Then we landed and nothing. Yay! I'm glad, because that was a long ride from the airport. If I had to do that ride while it was snowing, I would probably still be shaking.
