Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. I'm staying on my night schedule even though I'm not working. Once I put my husband to bed, I foresee several hours spent reading with hot chocolate...SO EXCITED!!
As it turns out, I also hate floating. I had never done it before and it's a gray area about whether or not I was qualified to do so. I dislike feeling out of my element and the unit to which I floated has a bad reputation. Needless to say, I'm very happy to be back home in my unit tonight and providing care for patients in a better environment.

SO happy that you have so few days left - I cannot believe how quickly the time went by!

goldy - pretty sure no one in nursing is into that. I'm not good at it (it's definitely an art). Even with the assistive device I had last night, I was still up to my elbows in misery (literally). It was not a great start to the shift and it was indicative of the rest of the night.

Do they give a dif for floating? That was the only bonus to floating. Don't miss that at all! Outlander and hot chocolate with no one to interrupt the reading? Win.

Good morning Lodge.

Today is my Friday and my next day back to work will be next Tuesday.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

Good Morning Lodge.

Some black ice out there this morning. On a section of highway that is in the middle of a 3 year construction project (100 north at Hyw 7 for the locals) there are 3 lanes but it's narrow and with jersey walls on both sides, someone must have changed lanes too fast. In right lane turned about 120 degrees from correct direction and nose into the jersey wall. Must have happened seconds before I got to it. Glad I got past before the back-up started.
Just a quarter mile or so away from the main entrance to the MN Zoo, I witnessed a Chevy Lumina hit a patch of ice today. It turned his car into the divided highway median, which is a good 15 feet wide there. It stopped a** end pointing out into my lane of traffic, almost smacking into the SUV that was in front of me there. Thankfully, there was no collision, but the lady still look pretty shook up during the brief glance I had.

Is 3.2 beer still a thing? I would have thought that long gone with micros and crafts so prevalent.

Also - for often claiming that Sconies are obsessed with you or are somehow inferior, Minnies sure do mention Wisconsin a whole lot more in these threads (usually a few times a week) than we ever mention you.*

I suppose it's like the situation where one team feels the other is a rival and the other just sees them as another team. It's gotta be more even for there to be a rivalry. ;)

* In fact, outside of a D1 thread, I can't think of many (any?) other than Fritz (?) trying to start a Drunk Minnesotan thread which is pointless as we simply do drunk better than pretty much the rest of the nation. We're professionals.

Nah, it's just that at SCSU (The Home of the Helmet Kids), our worst students came from two places: Duloot and Wisconsin. :p

ETA: Also, yes, 3.2 is still a thing as it's all the grocery stores can sell around here. Stupid Blue Laws.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

I seem to recall in the old days if restaurants had beer/wine licenses they could only sell 3.2. Remember going to the 5-8 Club a long time ago with my dad and he made a comment about beer being 3.2.

Sideways windy rain here. It seems a bit worse then when I was out food shopping earlier. Making spaghetti sauce now and will be making stuffed peppers later. And doing laundry. Also, trying to drink a lot of water. I figured I needed to start doing that (it was a New Year's resolution), but then I went for a massage yesterday and the therapist was like "man, you have a lot of tightness, start drinking more water because your muscles are probably dehydrated". I'm a little sore this morning.

Probably. Lots of things can really stress you out and make you tight. Heck, had another one of my regulars in, and listened to her go on about the stalker she's been dealing with at work. crazy *** chick who's has threaten to stab a professor already, borderline split personality she things. Mookie would love her as long as she doesn't have anything sharp on hand. At least she's only been bothering her at work and she's working on getting a PPO sworn out against the stalker. And is carrying pepper spray as well. That isn't doing her neck any favors.

Traffic sucked this morning. The average times on 35E are 5 minutes and 11 minutes. This morning 17 & 25 minutes. Get to work late. 4 minutes late, but still late. Find out the other shop screwed up the cutting on one of my jobs. Spilled coffee on myself. Get a call from home to find out that my dad was taken to the hospital at 2 this morning. To top things off, my pants decided to rip while fixing the printer.

In regards to my dad, this has been the same ongoing issue since 2007. Diverticulosis. They are keeping him in the hospital for precautionary reasons.

My mom just called to tell me my cousin John who lives in Wyoming is coming here this weekend with his two sons to go to the Patriots game. One of his sons sells cars and won some contest or something and now the three of them are flying here Friday to go to the game. Um, how the heck does that happen??? It will be nice to see them, it's been a while, I just am amazed that they lucked out to get a prize like this.

Well...start coordinator training in a couple weeks...

Awesome!

My Scarlet Tuesday was so bad, I sent a "F Text" to a couple friends on a smoke break. That bad. "Even Walsh wouldn't miss the day I'm having." That bad.

Let's just say the icing on the cake was that DHBoss made me travel 10 minutes to the main building...to work for 10 minutes more. Quite literally. I watched the clock. HOW is that good managing of money?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

piling on on the Tuesday sucks. My boss, started to rant about something, gave the staff impression she wanted them to do it a certain way. Then reamed them out for doing it. Then came back, and hanging over the counter into my fake office space starts in on how stupid they are. I made a mild comment and was told I was going to be gone soon so but out. Yep. So I gave her a look, and agreed with her. Told her she was most definitely right. I would but out. Turned my back and went back to typing. Later she came back to apologize. Not sure you call it an apology when I am told I need to understand she had good reason to say it. Yep. Love my job so much I am leaving. 23 looooong days.
