Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

Feeling safe to say HHT. Up 5-0 in the 3rd.

Trouble is, now my body thinks it's night time. Stupid afternoon games.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

The hubster wore the formal kilt attire for our wedding. Almost stopped dead in my tracks as I was walking down the aisle. He looked good! :)

I've seen the pictures - he looks amazing. I mentioned that this evening to the hubs (we were talking about the book). Did he wear the 10 yard kilt to make the sash or was it separate (We couldn't tell)? We were at the Highland Games in NH this summer and the tartans were quite expensive, so it would be an investment...

I think the sash was separate, but don't recall offhand. The sh* was real wool, though, and it was about 85 that day. No A/C in the church. It was a touch warm.

One of my fave moments was talking with his family, and they asked about my Irish-ness. Talking friendly sh* of course, then they asked, "What about the Brits?" I answered, "F* the Brits!" and they replied, "Ok! You are good with us, then!" :D

My grandfather was half Irish, half English. I can't even begin to think how that happened.

The fly plaid was a separate piece. Held in place by the brooch.

Part of the cost may come with how readily available his tartan is. The majority of our cost was in securing the fabric. It was the ancient colors in wool. Milled in Scotland and shipped to the States. The actual making of the pieces was minimal. We probably spent $600ish; 2/3rds was the fabric. However, the end result is fantastic. Also, the seamstress we used is somewhat of a family friend, so there are some personal touches added in.

Would the family friend be interested in doing other work or is this just a hobby? Urquhart is the tartan - it's actually quite pretty.

I wish I was home with a mug of tea or hot chocolate, curled up on the couch, reading. :o

Morning.

-11 right now, feels like -24. Predicted to be -3/-18 at noon for the game. That'll be fun to watch.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

Currently 47 and pouring rain. Supposed to flirt with 60 today. Seems like a good day to be a pile and do nothing! ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

It's snowing here. Cancelled my plans for the day, too many idiots on the road to bother trying to drive around.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #181: Holidaze

Minimal snow. 2" in the forecast here. Therefore, the idiots must be out in full force on the roads.

Eggs and sausage, roast with potatoes and carrots, and chili will be on the menu at some point this afternoon.
