Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

Morning.

Things are finally starting to move forward in the job search. Of course one of the companies wants to talk on the one day I have no availability.

Did most of my xmas shopping over the weekend. Got the most important gift buying (wife, and parents) done. Still need to get something for my sisters kids.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

Work has been way too busy. Got a bunch done the last 2 days in Indiana, now have plenty more left to go. Company is laying people off, my group was under the ax today, but I survived. I wasn't real worried, but you never know. Don't know who all we lost, but guessing will learn the fallout tomorrow.

Something called the El Rey Network.

Robert Rodriguez's network! I miss that channel. He was the director/contributor of many a movie like Desperado, Machete, the Grindhouse double-feature, Spy Kids (haven't seen that one), From Dusk Till Dawn, El Mariachi, etc etc.

Morning.

Yesterday my wife asked me if I wanted to go to spring training games next season.

I picked a winner! :)

Good Morning Lodge.

So both companies I've interviewed with recently decided to not do anything right now, but both say they are still interested.

That sounds like what women say me when trying to get a second date.

Good Morning Lodge.

1. Upper management announced some restructuring that eliminated the position. So they're diplomatically telling you to FOAD.

2. They ended up filling the position internally, but were required to interview a few outside candidates first. So they're diplomatically telling you to FOAD.

3. They thought they were going to land a bunch of new business and then didn't close it, but will keep you in mind in the future if they do get busier. So they're diplomatically telling you to FOAD for now.

4. With the holidays coming up, there could be a temporary hiring freeze. Perhaps they will get back to you in January or February, but don't hold your breath. IMO, this is actually the least likely scenario if they genuinely liked you as a candidate.

One firm is a start-up of two people, the other is a small partnership of two partners and about 14 total. Your 3) is correct for the first firm and I guess 4) is correct for the other, or else they looked at what it would really cost them to add me and decided they could limp along as they have been doing.

Forgot about, "You cost too much". Most likely because I haven't had that problem yet. :o
