Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

Might get our first taste of snow on Friday.

Winter is coming. Freaking ankle is feeling all stiff like it needs to pop or something. Just haven't gotten it to do it yet.

Moved the coop today to its winter spot and getting it all set up for winter.

I love that stuff. A good friend has a German Setter http://s3.amazonaws.com/pet-uploads.adoptapet.com/1/7/a/107028192.jpg?336w he (and now his wife) got from a private seller (they aren't into the pedigree stuff, btw). Was pointing out stuff when she was just a little tyke (I remember holding her in the palm of my hand). Probably could have been a good hunting dog. I dog-sitted often and even now, years later, I visit, and the dog remembers me, and guaranteed will cuddle up with me on the couch.

Nice.

Good morning Lodge.

I'm not the type of person to get caught up in pedigree and bloodlines etc. However, due to the fact that the breed of dog we decided on is fairly exclusive and given that the breeders are all very protective of the breed meant that we got a dog with some decent bloodlines.

What's really cool is watching a dog and witnessing it do its thing no matter what their specialty is. I remember when little g was in th NICU. Once a week a guy would show up with a dog (Not in the NICU but in the childrens part). The dog was trained to enter a room and spend 5 minutes with each kid. This dog was unsupervised and it made its rounds and its timing was nearly exact every time. You could feel and see the energy in the children and the staff rise. Good stuff.

I'm not a fanatic when it comes to hunting. If I see a bird it's a bonus and if I get one bonus x 2. It's something I'm doing for three reasons. 1. Introduce it to my boys. 2. Get outside explore nature and get some fresh air and watch my dog work. 3. Carry a gun and get to shoot shiat.

Now I just need to figure out how to get little g involved. The terrain for pheasant hunting is not ideal and it will be very difficult for him to maneuver in the field. I have been looking into a couple options and I am waiting for the DNR to provide me some answers to my questions. Little g has also expressed an interest in deer hunting. I am also looking into options for that.

Cool! I assume you know about "Capable Partners," right? Even though they focus on people with more severe issues than Little g, I'm sure they can help you and offer suggestions. http://www.capablepartners.org/membership.htm

Good luck! As big as it is, I'm sure the Alex range has someone who can help with teaching a kid with lil g's issues. I'd talk to them and see if they can help.

Morning,

I don't think there will be any more nice days here till spring. /sadface

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

Crazy busy here the last few days. Had a mad scramble to get a project past a milestone yesterday. Had a couple coworkers I work with almost daily visiting from New Mexico for the first time, so I took them out to dinner and beer at Surly, they loved it. And still have all of the regular ****storm of work to deal with, starting with a meeting in 1 minute. Yay!

Also, confirmed suite tickets for the Packers-Cowboys game on December 13th. Should be a fun time. It will be me, my supervisor and a coworker joining one of our internal customers.

Supposedly the Storm Of The Century Of The Week (Rain version) is hitting the metro tonight.

I have been in contact with capable partners and they have been a great resource. The person I have been working with is a quadriplegic. What I like about them is that they can develop solutions that are budget orienrated and not over the top. They have the contacts to develop and fabricate things that little g would need. Example.......I have priced things out that he may need (tripod, trigger mechanism and other items). $4,000. He has made it quite clear that if there is anything I need for little g to contact him and he will make it happen. The issue is that disabilities cover a wide spectrum and there is no cookie cutter approach.

Its preamble hit down here just before 2:00... while I was out for my daily run. Cold November rain, indeed. Still, it's better than the 4-12 inches of snow that hit us at this time last year. We've not had an easy, mild winter in a few years.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

So a police chase ended on the Mother Mining campus this afternoon around 4. Sounds like they arrested the guy when he tried to run after popping a tire on the grassy knoll near my building. It was comforting to see our internal security show up about 15-20 minutes after it ended to block some intersections. A crack squad they are, Paul Blarts on the spot.

Possible but there were people trying to turn down the street and having to back up and/or turn around so my thought was our brave mall cops were MIA.
They are an easy target.... :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

Good Evening, Lodge!

I guess Tuesday decided to show it's ugly face today. My still current boss finally had a talk with our bindery person about their lack of motivation. They keep barking for full time, but show they deserve it. They didn't talk to any of us for the rest of the day and we are taking bets on when they put in their notice. Then I have to start the rehashing of an on going argument about pricing. Why are there 3 different prices for the same amount of product?! Just another month and a half before we can finally have set price points.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #180: Holiday Onslaught

in 23 minutes it will be Thursday. Kind of a Tuesday in my world.
