Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: 17th Edition: Summer Isn't Just A Stripper's Name
Currently in Mar del Plata, Argentina, sitting in a hotel conference room, during a training, looking out over the Atlantic Ocean. I am not attending training, or giving training, I am simply here so that my group "has a presence at the training", and so I can answer questions that may come up about my product.
Travel has been hell. Left Bogota at about 7PM on Sunday night, flew overnight to Buenos Aires. As usual, couldn't sleep on the plane. Got into Buenos Aires at 3AM, and caught a taxi across town to the other airport, and caught another flight to Neuquen at 7AM. Got to Neuquen and crashed, I was exhausted. Worked in Neuquen (inspected an engine running at an oil well site), well, actually in the middle of nowhere in Patagonia. A place that makes North Dakota downright cosmopolitan. Had to get back to the airport for my flight last night at 9:20PM, which was delayed an hour. Landed in Buenos Aires late, and found that despite advertising a hotel shuttle, the hotel didn't have one. Took an hour to get a cab and get to the hotel, got to bed at about 1:30AM. Got up this morning at 4:15AM, to catch my flight to Mar del Plata. Got to the airport, we were told that our flight was cancelled, and we should drive the 5.5 hours to Mar del Plata. Decided that was not an option, and was in line to cancel our flights and reschedule our return flights to come back home tonight, when someone told us that our flight to Mar del Plata was "uncancelled". How does that happen? On top of that, they didn't delay it, so no one was even checked in, and it was 20 minutes before takeoff. We got to use Sky Priority lane, and got our bags checked, and through security just in time to make the flight. A total of about 10 people made it in time, the rest were left behind, despite being told that the flight was cancelled.
Here for today and tomorrow, then finally start heading home tomorrow afternoon. Mar del Plata - Buenos Aires - Miami - Detroit - Minneapolis. Not going to be able to sleep on the 10 hour flight from Buenos Aires...crappy.
