Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: 17th Edition: Summer Isn't Just A Stripper's Name

Morning Lodge.

Glad to hear about the pup gmann!

Made reservations last night to go to Maui in August. Woman with the VRBO we want e-mailed me that she had tried to call back but my phone went to voice mail. Ya think the 5 hour difference might explain that? How 'bout I call you back right now and see if you answer at 2 AM your time? You'd think she'd be used to dealing with folks on the mainland and different time zones.

Morning.

Maui is fantastic. Luaus sponsored by hotels are decent, but not something you have to go out of your way for.

Driving up to the top of the mountain/volcano is good. But no gas stations for the round trip up. So be sure your filled up.

Bunch of other cool things to see nature wise.

My wife and I were there, but 20+ years ago.

Jr and I plan to do the van ride to the top of Haleakala for the sunrise then bike ride/coast down. Mrs will sleep in and then hit the beach that day. Looking into either a bottom fishing or deep sea fishing trip on a share boat. May try some shore fishing as well. Not sure if we will take a snorkeling charter, again Jr and I may go, last time Mrs did not care for it much. I'm the only one dive certified and it was %$# years ago so not real comfortable with scuba unless I did a refresher. Jr and/or I may try surfing lessons. Likely will rent windsurfer and kayaks at some point as well. Will certainly do a luau.

So if you catch fish while fishing on vacation in Hawaii, what do you do with them? Package them up for the trip home???

Muggy Tuesday here in 617-ville. Made for an uncomfortable T ride in, though I did get a seat, so there's that.

Grill them on the grills at the VRBO. If we do a deep sea charter (share) the crew will typically provide you with enough for a meal from any fish you catch (tradition is you give the fish to the boat/crew and they sell it). If you bottom fish you are welcome to keep the smaller fish you will catch and crew will advise if it is good eating. I assume (hope) they will have some cleaning facility available - I'm not planning to pack any of my fillet knives for the trip and don't want to try cleaning fish in the VRBO condo. If we shore fish I may have to go buy a fillet knife. I read that many of the fish caught that way are invasive and should not be released.

I have never been to Hawaii. I have family that lives on one of the islands. I should go one of these days.

I went deep sea fishing while vacationing in Mexico. I went with a crew of retired navy guys. Pre trip they were teasing me because they were sure I would get sea sick. It was a fairly rough sea. When the trip was over I was the only one that fished the entire time and I was the only one that wasn't green and puking. :)

Mrs and I went a long time ago and we did a snorkeling charter on a fairly rough day. Many people were chumming on the way out, while on the reef and mostly on the way back, it helped bring more fish in to see. I can't say I was at my best but did not come close to losing my lunch. Mrs got out of the water and into the boat as she wasn't feeling great.

Had to check a calendar to determine that, yes indeed, it's a Tuesday.

Making a meatloaf using salsa instead of ketchup or other tomato sauce. Let's see how much of a disaster this turns into.

I have to say, the best meatloaf I had (and yes, it was a restaurant in the middle of nowhere) used bangers and beef as a mix. Delicious.

It took all of opening my eyes to know it was Tuesday yesterday. Got back from vacation to 2 new nurses (they are added on to the other one- this is good) training, my MA struggling to do everything I needed, the staff overbooking the new NP for the rest of the week (the 'front office manager never passed on what was supposed to happen to the staff), went home to open the SASS and it is refusing to give me access. Spent hours on the phone or waiting to be on the phone to get it fixed. Incompetent nincompoops tried to tell me it is my server. Um, no. They obviously had no idea what was wrong. Did not get any work done last night and am starting a stretch of covering the office that is lasting 2 weeks. NOT a happy camper. Mel suggested I needed S SS viewing of gmann. That made me laugh! Add into that my thyroid is messed up and you have a party. Wheeeee!!

And worst of all one of Lil's teammates drowned this past weekend. Awful, awful circumstances. Took pics of him at the meets and joked around with him the past yr. Devastating in so many ways. Can't believe he is gone and I won't see his skinny but leaping over the bar one more time. So effff*ing young. :( :( They started a go fund me page and it is heartbreaking to read the comments. He was so loved. The kids are giving in bits and pieces and sometimes more. Reached the original goal in less than a day and still climbing. They are going to start a scholarship in his name.

I saw that on the news. So, so sad. How's Lil doing?

Boss is out today and I have no meetings. Hopefully can do a lot of little nitpicky things while she's out. She's in Toronto so I hope that means it will be harder for her to keep in touch. :)
