Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: 17th Edition: Summer Isn't Just A Stripper's Name

I think Hammer enjoys his interactions with the telemarketers. If he doesn't, I sure enjoy hearing about them. :)

The mister and I are celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary today. He came home with roses, a card, and some positivity that we've needed. I gave him a card and made dinner. Yes, I was barefoot.

Man, already 4 years! How time flies!

And good telemarketer stories are always entertaining. ALMOST makes me wish for the old days, when you didn't have Call ID, and just answered the phone, and then realized...."I am SO gonna F with these people."

It's therapeutic to tear them apart sometimes, especially after work. And even more so when they call you an f-ing c-t, like one did last fall. That ended well for him, after I informed him that the women from his country come to this one because guys like him have small dicks. For some reason he didn't want to talk after that.

I was always polite until they started pressing. Then I had fun with them. If they STILL continued, then I got really testy.

If they start to butcher the English language and they're reading off of a script, with the boiler room chatter behind them, we dispense with the preliminaries very quickly.

I still figure they are just doing their job (as annoying as it is). If they stop at the slightest hint of my not wanting to deal with them, ok cool, no worries.

I differentiate. Straight telemarketers are dealt with swiftly and harshly. Fundraisers, OTOH, are treated decently, especially if I'm familiar with the cause. Until they push too far. Then the boomstick comes out.

Congrats! Barefoot huh?

I go with the thought that they know it's a crappy job, but that's the only job they can get. Hence my leniency. I've had some immediately back off when I say no after 3 of their words. The others...ok, now the process starts.

Apparently 4th of July started tonight. Bombs are going off down the street.

Nothing here, but some fellow Twatters are reporting what you are reporting.

A few in our neighborhood, none too close. Had some neighbors over for smores. Introduced a kid from The Canary Islands to his first smore. He's staying across the street, here to go to bouncy ball camp at Gustavus.

1. Add bacon to the smores. Trust me. So good.
2. Had a very brief (10 second) outburst from the Hopkins side of me. Nothing major.

For those interested in some popcorn time tonight...Reddit is currently self-immolating.

tl;dr: Reddit fired a popular admin/assistant (the one who basically verified and set up the AMA's and served as their PR person) and left a bunch of mods in the dark about it, so they're all closing their portions of the website in protest.

I'm an internet geek, but that is WELL above my pay grade.

Imagine if at 4:55 today they fire Cool Boss for not putting cover sheets on his TPS reports and don't tell you. You show up tomorrow morning and the warehouse is in chaos - turns out he drove about one third of the business including basically being one of the public faces of the company and a trusted PR liaison. There are now shipments booked for tomorrow that will simply not be able to go out. Some of them to big-time customers.

That's what it's like to be a Reddit mod right now. So they've locked up the warehouse in protest.

Run. Farther.

Bingo. Just trying to make a living. I highly doubt this is the job they dreamed about. I'm just straight with them. "Not interested, take me off your call list."

Almost all are very accommodating and even thank me.
