Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #179: Crisp Autumn Weather, Football, and Hockey

Good evening Lodge.

After three weeks I think my septic issues have been solved.

All set up at the camp site. DQ drive thru for dinner tonight. Camp fire is crackling and s'mores have been served.

Both boys are out cold.

It's going to be a cool night. Currently 49 degrees. Clear sky. Dark at 8:00 pm. No bugs. I. Like. Fall.

Nothing like a 10 hour day to finish off the week. ABR tomorrow, can't wait, although I have to watch my intake as I am driving. :( Still should be able to sample 2-3 dozen beers, though (2 oz samples for those who are unfamiliar). Honestly, given how many hockey folk are going, it'll be like a pre-season GPL tailgate. :)

You're not supposed to hear lightning sizzle right before it strikes. It sounded like we were raising Frankenstein to life. And we had a couple of those tonight. It was pitch black and I could see exactly what color my neighbor's living room wall was, right across the street.

Want.

Today was the dreary kind of rain. No light show, no sound, just blah.

Yeah, but this one was a bit too close. I thought the lightning hit somewhere within a block of me.

I'm at the western end of the Twin Cities' "heat island," facing west, so I see all the sh* coming, then it usually splits to the north/south. It stinks.

We had a few strikes on our building at work Thursday. Lights even flickered on one of them. Systems kept rolling, though. Roughly one trillion backup generators are on the ready. Can't stop the financial industry machine with some lightning.

Good Morning, MEUSA! :)

Good Morning to the rest of tLodge! :)

The rain last night watered down my Oktoberfest beers at Gasthof zur Gemutlichkeit. Weird setup they have at that place for Oktoberfest. Hearing the polka version of Chuck Berry and Dean Martin songs, that was interesting.

Happy Talk Like A Pirate Day mateys.

It's interesting (because there is math involved ;)) that as of now, the ads for a new Fan Former Administrator have the following views:

D-I 256
D-II 197
Women 240
Café 190

I would have expected the D-I post to have by far the most views of the three College Hockey boards based upon the number of posts in the forum. Of course, some people, like me, looked at all of them. :D

Good grief! Polka versions of Chuck Berry.

Gasthof's is awesome. Not only do they have polka until midnight (and then regular "club" music until close), but the food is phenomenal. And it's always packed, and younger people make up the majority of the crowd.

Autumn Brew Review today, shaping up to be perfect weather.

Ruth Adams (RIP) & The World's Most Dangerous Polka Band did some fantastic covers at Nye's.
For the 14 people who can cram into the bar. ;)
