Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #179: Crisp Autumn Weather, Football, and Hockey

I used Hertz when I went to my niece's wedding a week and a half ago because I wanted a company which had an office fairly near where I was going on eastern Long Island in addition to LGA. I had no problems besides for all the gadgets which new cars have which I am not used to. (Who would have guessed that the headlights would turn on automatically when it is dark. :) ) I did notice that I got picked up at the airport a lot faster than when I used Enterprise.

Once I saw Hertz, a part of me started recalling the "Not Exactly" commercials.

Good Morning Lodge.

I normally use National as I have an Emerald Isle Card that I got back when I did a lot of business travel and my company used them. I don't have to go through all the crap at the rental counter, just set it up on line in advance (which is short since my preferences are already in my profile) then walk up to the Isle and pick out my car. When we went to Hawaii this summer I shopped on line and wound up with Dollar at a super low rate through my current firm's group purchasing network (woman at counter remarked it was the same rate they pay as employees).

My lights turn on automatically, the brights/dims switch automatically when needed, and my wipers turn on and switch speeds automatically.

I would not like the brights/dims feature at all, and I'm on the fence about the wipers bit, too.

I contacted enterprise, hertz, national and dollar. All similar vehicles. The first three came in at approx $1,100.00 and dollar came in at $400.00. W t f?

I dunno. Our experience on Maui was fine with Dollar, got on the shuttle right away, fairly short line at the counter. Car was OK, except that the windshield seemed to be etched by the salt from the ocean. No issue at check-in either. They might have a special going on for that location or something.

ETA: Looked at reviews on line and pretty much all of them were negative for Dollar. Hmmm, maybe I got lucky on Maui or that is their one good location. They did want to charge me quite a bit extra per day to have a second driver so I did not put my wife on as I usually do with no extra charge for other companies. Of the reviews 9% would recommend them to a friend.

Dollar and Thrifty (DON'T EVER RENT FROM THEM!!!) are the same company. Just sayin.

I like it alot. Never forget to turn off the brights and never forget to turn them back on again. Really nice feature.

First of all and no offense to any of you but every company I spoke to was a rep from India or somewhere like that. Hard as hell to deal with.

I called enterprise back and spoke to someone here in the states. First quote I got was $1,050. This time I was quoted $530.00. Plus they have a counter at the airport and the car is within walking distance of the counter. Enterprise for the win.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #179: Crisp Autumn Weather, Football, and Hockey

I don't think today could've Tuesday'd any more if it tried. Seriously. Last night I left my laptop at work as I figured that the two event I'm doing this week are local and I'm not traveling so I don't need it. Then I remembered they use my laptop to play our "sizzle reel" video. So I left my place before 7am so I could drive into Boston and run up to grab my laptop. As I was walking to my car, I realized I also forgot the tshirts we have the athlete sign, so now I'm glad I was head in. It's the Tuesday after a long weekend. It's raining. Traffic was a mess. I pull up outside, find a meter (yay!) grab my pocketbook to run inside and think "why is my pocketbook so light?" Well, that's because I left BOTJH MY PHONES at home!!!

Make it out to our office in Weston that has 500+ people. The athlete was 15 minutes late because of the traffic. A co-worker was late because of the traffic. I got no one's texts because I HAD NO PHONES. Then, no one showed up. The guy who was supposed to be in charge of the inviting who should've been sending out the reminder this morning took the week off and didn't tell me. No one there had access to the office email distribution lists. What a nightmare.

I'm up at our next office doing set up. I'm hoping this one will be better. It certainly can't be any worse.

They have numbers to call? I'd use the website.

Just stubbed my toe so bad I'm pretty sure I broke it. Can't move it without sharp pain and its turning colors.
