Happy birthday to con and bando! Flashback to people who no longer play- no thread because they aren't around anymore :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...

Had a monthly office wide "stand up meeting" this morning. Announced that the woman who was laid off last week was an anomaly. She worked for a different division (Oklahoma City) who is slow and they let her go over this office's objections. (We have work for her now, and possibly more upcoming!) We have plenty of work in the pipeline although some of it is slow to start, we should be really busy when no one wants to be busy, over the holidays. We are proposing on even more work for even more new clients as well as existing clients.

I don't care, I still talked to a couple head hunters the other day as I am tired of being slow and worried about it. I don't want to be on the street looking and don't want to do it for long, if it happens.

I wish there was no traffic. Or an extreme lack of parking in Boston. I would be such a happy person. Drove my suitcase into the office tonight so I wouldn't have to lug it in on the T tomorrow morning. Parked in our garage that I don't get to park in during the day. Made it home in 13 minutes. That's how close I live. Yet it can take me upwards of 45 minutes to an hour on a regular day.

Today isn't Tuesday, is it? Work has been brutal this week. Hope the holiday slowdown starts tomorrow, rather than Friday.

Last minute decision to head to the fair this evening.
Tom. Thumb. Donuts. There is no substitute.....they are the bestest ever.

That is my breakfast, coupled with the All You Care To Drink Milk. Perfect combo.

We have an advantage, the boss grew up 4-5 blocks from the fair and her mom still lives in the same house. We only live a mile or so south of the fairgrounds so short drive + Free & close parking for the win. :)

I take the free shuttle, which has a base about 2 miles from my place.

It took me close to an hour to get from the Lowell border to my house the other day. It took close to 40 minutes to travel about a quarter of a mile. Some dipshi7 decided to block one of the lanes on the University Ave bridge with a cruiser, lights flashing, so the policeman could stand there and berate people for not entering the intersection correctly. Of course he was BLOCKING access to the people coming onto the bridge from the dorms and the back up was so severe everyone was throwing caution to the winds and driving however they wanted. Sometimes I think the people who reach the top of the power chain are there because they disconnected anything to do with rational thought. THey were doing this at 5PM- peak rush hour. I really wonder that no one got out and chucked him over the rail. It was tempting.

Almost weekend.

I have a few more hours of work, and I took care of all big issues yesterday. Football game tonight. State Fair tomorrow. Then long weekend!

Did your fired contractor ever respond, or pick up his stuff?

Yeah, he did. He wanted to still finish the job, and I told him to get lost. He burned up about 8 deadlines, and I wasn't ready to put up with his **** anymore. We're getting quotes from other contractors now.
