Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #178: Oh, mookie's dreams...
Electric instead of manual typewriter was a big deal in HS, self correcting one was amazing. First computer had 12 inch orange print monitor. Dot matrix printer with the paper that had strips with holes on the side (grad school). Internet and email were invented but not for the public.
Cordless phones were a big deal, the size of a brick and lookled like something on an army field comm guy's pack when I was in late HS. First cell was the size of a brick and cost 34 cents a minute.
Remember getting the first color TV was a big deal and having UHF and VHF was pretty cool. Cable came out when I was in college.
Microwaves came along in college.
I also remember when I was allowed to wear pants for gym. Now kids are complaining because they have banned yoga pants in HS without something over them (just on the news) because they should have the right and boys should be able to control themselves. [Warning-PC filter off] The girl fighting to do this is not small and the boys would be fighting to not make a derogatory comment asking why she thought this was something attractive to wear. Why do women think it is OK to wear revealing, inappropriate clothing and assume it is the boys problem if they are turned on? As a woman- I am not attracted and I don't think you need to hang flesh out of your top/bottom of your shirt or let everyone see every fold in your bottom parts because you want to. If parents can't figure out to censor a teenage kids outfits then someone should have the balls to do so.
hehGood Morning Lodge.
Ha, walked into the break room this morning and three staff, all of whom I consider quite young (by comparison to us old farts), were *ing about "the kids these days."
I mumbled "get off my lawn!" and waked out.
You have to have the right frame of reference. THey were just letting you know it would be happening. That is when you wait until tomorrow and send them a note thanking them FYI you and knowing you will be getting a synopsis.Well, they figured they needed you in the call and you can call in from anywhere. You are employed 24/7/365, right?
