Howdy Lodge. Heading to NYC tomorrow morning. We have a local office event Friday. Bringing in a US Women's soccer player to meet our employees. When I called the office to let them know we'd like to do it, they tell me there are 500+ employees so I try to plan for that. Today they tell me they sent out the invite and they have 23 responses. Now, I know it was short notice and it's on a Friday, but that's ind of ridiculous.

Just finished packing. Not sure why it took me so long. I'm only going for a few days but I'm using my big suitcase and checking luggage.

Last shift. We went and blew one of our engines this afternoon, so we diverted to Pascagoula, MS. Not really looking forward to driving back to Tampa, but I'll get to see a buddy at Fort Rucker and get my required annual test for benzene taken care of.

Getting out of the shower this morning and what happens? Building fire alarm. Arrrgghhh. I have a cab coming at 8:15 to take me to the airport. Thankfully it was nothing, as usual, but now I have to rush to get ready so I can leave on time.

Good morning Lodge. My sister-in-law posted a picture of a neighbor kayaking down the street. The flood waters receded enough yesterday afternoon that they were able to get out. The waters just reached their front porch, but didn't get inside their house. They tell me half the neighborhood was not as lucky.

I had been considering a trip down to Houston or OKC this weekend (or flying into Dallas and doing enough driving to visit both), but it didn't work out. Today is day one of the women's college world series. Go Blue!

Signed a contract yesterday to finally replace the 8 remaining 57 year old windows in our house. Probably should have done it in 2000 when the main addition/remodel was done.

Reading all of your travails dealing with travelling makes me recall the 2+ years I worked as a detailee at ONR and travelled frequently and reminds me one of the reasons that I didn't remain there permanently.


No, damm spell checker, I don 't want to change "detailee" to "detainee", although it was sort of true.

Just put together a comprehensive plan for my South America venture. I've been looking at flights a bit for a while, to get an idea of what it would look like, but this is the first time I went this in-depth. My supervisor wanted to see a plan, to see if it is feasible.
