Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #175: More Spring Cleaning

Good afternoon Lodge.

Went out and purchased a bunch of stuff for the dog (getting him Memorial Day weekend). Purchased a dog crate, invisible fence, dog training collar and a bunch of other misc supplies.

I am looking forward to training the pup myself and I am also taking him to a trainer to get trained for hunting pheasants. I'm looking forward to getting back into hunting and I'm excited to get my boys exposed to the sport.

It has been and it will continue to be difficult to keep this a secret from the boys. We plan on letting them know what is going on the moment we pull in the drive way to pick up our pup because if we told them any sooner they would drive us crazy with their anticipation. :)

Now how on earth are you going to hide that stuff?

Morning Lodge. Did not get a turkey on dl's farm this morning. Birds were gobbling away in the woods behind our blind but they must have heard or seen us and went the other way. Maybe next weekend.

I might try this next year. I have never attempted nor have I ever tried eating it. What have you found to be the best way to prepare it?

Hah, I remember the old "we're going on a mystery trip" as an 11 year-old, ending with bringing a beagle home from a farm out in the boonies.

What breed are you getting?

What breed are you getting?

We have been comtemplating getting a dog for a couple years or so. I tend to research the hell out of most purchases. We didn't want a lap dog. We wanted an athletic dog. We didn't want a dog that sheds. We didn't want the designer dogs (Labradoodle or Goldendoodle etc). So, that criteria eliminated almost everything.

We are getting a Pudelpointer. A coworker of mrs g turned us on to the breed. Before that I never knew they existed. The breeders are few and far between and they are very protective of the breed. The breed is very Athletic, smart, loyal, non shedder, great family pets and amazing hunters.

I'm learning quick that the easiest way to describe our dog is to call it a mutt because when I say "Pudelpointer" I get a bewildered look.

The breed is primarily brown. Black is acceptable but rare. The litter our pup is from is 1 of 10. 7 are black. Our little guy will be black.

We have only gotten two, one I smoked the breasts and the other I grilled. Both came out fine. As I understand it the only ways to make legs and thighs edible are pressure cooker or grinding them.

Garage. I will hide it right next to all my new ice fishing gear that mrs g doesn't know I purchased back in January (vexilar, Ion auger etc). :D

Garage Logic rules dictate she has 48 hours from the time of purchase to notice it. Otherwise you are allowed to say, "this old thing? It's been here forever." and she's not allowed to complain.

If you had asked about duck or goose, I could have helped. Uncle used to hunt for our Christmas dinner. Friggin' tasty.

Good Morning, Lodge!

Today is going to be another busy day. We have to package and ship all the signs for the Cub Foods Garden Centers and there is a film crew showing up in the afternoon that is showcasing local businesses for the new factory in Prescott.

Good morning folks. Happy Patriots Day! Home because our office is closed today as all the streets around the office are marathon meet up areas for families and friends of marathon runners. It's cold and raw and will start to rain soon so I'm glad I don't have to commute today. I think I may bake today.

Back at my desk for the first time in 2 weeks. Glad that I stayed up-to-date on emails throughout my time away, so I don't have 500 emails to deal with. I have a few important things to get done today, action items from last week. Got to up my game now, as everyone else will try to dethrone #1.

Marathon Day. Love watching Boston. Nasty day for it tho. Lots of blisters and bleeding nipples by the time it is done d/t the rain
