Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

The stuff I got wasn't that expensive, but I was more worried about getting one that tasted how I wanted, so I went through tasting notes and reviews and found one that fit. Basically, I'd rather have a younger Islay than spend more for an older speyside. :p
I agree, I want something I haven't had, but is good. I have a love for Balvenie and Laph, so those are the faves. Leaning towards the Laph, since I like my Islays. We'll see what happens.

(for those not in the know, Aces Spirits is the place that I'm talking about. Massive selection)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Survived my first full day in Superior. Cold and windy all day with some rain as well... the temp never rose above 57. Went out to the future son-in-law's parents farm way out of town. Nice spread in the middle of nowhere. Also had to go to the Duluth airport to pick up one of my daughter's friends. Duluth, at least the little I saw of it, seems much nicer than Superior.

Tomorrow it's back to the homestead to start setting up stuff for Saturday. The forecast is for rain all day so it looks like the kids will be getting married indoors which isn't sitting too well with my daughter. I told her if that's all that goes wrong then things won't be so bad. She wasn't having any of that reasoning.

No disrespect to those that live here, but I can't wait to get out of Wisconsin!
In Wisconsin's defense, you are pretty much in the worst part of Wisconsin. Superior is like Wisconsin's Arkansas.

I think we'll be happy with my Islay selection.

It really is. We Minnesotans speak constant ill of Wisconsin, and Superior? What an ill-named town. Horrid.

Unfortunately for your daughter, June is the rainiest month of the year around these parts.

There's a reason why most people in Wisconsin drink, and you're hanging out with people in Wisconsin who are crazy enough to not drink. Think about that for a minute.

To be fair, the family is really nice. Good, down to earth people. Dad's a minister with strong religious convictions so I know where anti-alcohol thinking comes from.

They live out in the sticks, technically in the village of Superior, not the city itself. It's actually really nice out where they are. Here, on the bay where the hotel is, not so much. It's clear that Superior has seen better days...

Those who have been here a while may remember the time I spent on one of the coal ships on the great lakes. We loaded almost weekly in Superior at the SMET dock. The handful of times I got off the ship to go get odds and ends in town I certainly wasn't left feeling like I wanted to spend any more time than necessary there.

Hope the weather guessers pulled the wrong forecast out of their magic hat, Mark. All the best to you, your daughter and the families of both parties.

Same feeling I have...

Thanks Brandon. The forecast as of this morning looks a little more promising... the rain might hold off long enough to have the ceremony outside. That's all she wants... it can start pouring after the pictures!

Excited to be getting married tomorrow.

Wait......What!? Congrats!

Good Morning, Lodge! The continuation of Hell continues at work. I just got handed down a new project and it is top priority. We need to get the other site certified and I get to the be the one organizing it. This is on top of the current situation with my boss and it doesn't help that I get to enter orders all next week.
