Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

So I was supposted to be running a meeting tonight. Last night I email the sponsor who immediately bugs out ans says !1!!!11!11! cancel. The Doc speaking doesn't reply. I see The forecast and see Scott K saying Holy Catfish! I email and cancel. By this AM they are talking about imminent death, everyone is saying stay off the roads. The Doc finally emails back, ignoring the email from Sponsor and the next one from me saying we are a no go. He thinks we should go ahead with the meeting. ::make a Scooby doo 'Huh' noise::
I called his office to tell them uh, no, we are not going to ignore the governor's request to get off the road. The Sponsor beat me too it.

We are closed tomorrow too. Thank goodness. The Luge run is gonna be interesting tomorrow!

For some reason, we're getting blizzard notices here, and it'll hardly be a light dusting. Once again, New York City-state is only represented by nine counties.

It's not going to be "his" car although it'll be the one he drives most. Not getting an ugly color. It'll likely be another Subaru for safety reasons and the only ugly color ones are the Crosstrek. And we won't get one of those.

There are two very ugly colors for the Crosstrek (bright orange and electric snot green), and one questionable color (the khaki).

Speaking of paint jobs, my Crosstrek was ready for pickup on Friday, but I couldn't make it there due to other plans going already in place. Besides that, I was told that it wouldn't be ready until today anyway.

When I went down to pick up my car, looked over the rear bumper cover and it's a different shade of white than the rest of my car. Add to that, the grey bodywork that wraps around the bottom of the car, they painted the horizontal lip and tried to tell me that's the way it's supposed to look. I refused to accept it and now it'll be until Wednesday or Thursday before they'll have either a new bumper cover in place or the current one fixed. I was so pi55ed, the guy tried to tell me that he and his entire staff reviewed it before calling me, all of them saying that it was a good match. Then he tried to blame it on the paint manufacturer, saying that they had the wrong formula. Then he blamed the excess paint on the grey portion on Subaru, saying that they send the bumper covers pre-taped and that his crew just uses what they're given. This place used to have a good reputation, and I've used them a couple times before with my prior car, but that's come to an end. It'd be one thing if he'd have owned up to the mistakes right from the bat and just offered to fix them, but he instead decided to push the responsibility off onto all of his suppliers for his crew's crummy work. I'm using a new body shop next time.

Just got the word that the office is closed tomorrow. And we can base our departure time today based on where we live and the weather. I don't live that far and it's just snowing lightly. Yet I want to leave now!!! No word on whether we'll be closed Wednesday as well. Probably not, but it could happen.

It always ****ed me off when I worked for the gov't and they staggered early dismissal by where one lived.

I'm curious how that works with telecommuters. If the office is closed due to weather, do they still work? Or, if their home office is in let's say DC, yet lives in Chicago, were they sent home yesterday as a factor in their theoretical commute?

Nothing makes a kid feel cool in HS like driving a minivan. Just ask YE. :D

I think Jr would walk the 6 miles first. That or hitch-hike. He really didn't like the Forester I picked out, but he has found a Legacy sedan that's newer, fewer miles and less money. Hard to fight that so we'll go look at it tomorrow, but the Forester is a heck of a deal.

Telecommuters must still work. The same thing is true for those on travel.

By the time that most people read this, it will be showing Tuesday's operating status, http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/snow-dismissal-procedures/current-status/, but Monday had a Unscheduled Leave policy (one can use vacation time without getting permission first) and it also states
Telework-Ready Employees who are regularly scheduled to perform telework or who notify their supervisor of their intention to perform unscheduled telework must be prepared to telework for the entire workday, or take unscheduled leave, or a combination of both, for the entire workday in accordance with their agency's policies and procedures, subject to any applicable collective bargaining requirements (as consistent with law).

In the ugliest possible color.

Oh, and if you can, get a fender in a different color.

One day I swear I'm going to go all Fight Club and just run thru the HS parking lot smashing the bummers of all the new cars out there, leaving the beaters alone. Your first car should be a beater, so that you'll appreciate your new car later in life.

We just got a dusting in 202-land, however the sidewalks are slippery due to freezing precipitation.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Good Morning Lodge.

No car for Jr yet. There are plenty out there and no great rush.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Good morning Lodge! Man, there's a **** ton of snow out there. And it's only 9am! Supposed to snow all day!

I'm making corn muffins for breakfast and then I'm going to make soup later today. Because I can. Because I'm stuck here at home.
