Being a skinny (really skinny) guy, gloves are of utmost importance. Feet? I can survive. But gloves? That's a must.

I just ordered some winter horseback riding gloves that look to be dang near bulletproof. The thing that truly sold me on them was reading this review, "I live in Alaska so as you can imagine it gets really, really, REALLY cold here... If you're looking for a pair of gloves that will keep your hands relatively warm in -40 degrees and let you use a smartphone without taking them off, then these gloves will do fine for you." It reads like the guy lives around the Squarebanks area.

Plus, they have a pocket for a hand warmer pouch, which should do the trick if I ever go to another outdoor hockey game in January. Dang, that was a cold night.

At work.....shot a cannon....didn't hit anyone.
Very quiet here, which is good. :)

There are more people in here than there were yesterday! Especially more Principals (bosses). I'm still leaving early. Jr was pizzed that his mom told him had to go to work today (he works at one of her clients, on her payroll).

Well, GTFO, we don't want you! :p

Ha! I class this place up. ;)

Was commenting that the last time I was out in that kind of cold hurrying from bar to bar was probably college. Of course back then we'd have left the jackets at home or in the car...

Happy last day of 2014 Lodge! Tried to log on my work computer which I brought home on 12/18 and never turned on, and could not get on our network. I'm not going to call the Help Desk. Taking it as a sign. So, I'm doing some laundry and shredding old bank statements and checks, etc. found the check I used to pay off my student loan. And why did I keep pay stubs from previous jobs? Shredder overheated so I'm taking a break.

Aaaaand the chinese fire drill is underway. If I don't throw a chair through a window it'll be a minor miracle.

Over the holidays my friends and I did a gift grab. One of my friends just moved into her mother's house (mom moved to an assisted living facility) and in cleaning out the house when she moved in, she found a ton of stuff that never used. So she added on a fun Yankee Swap. I wound up with the worst gift, a small glass shelf to affix to a wall, and I really don't want or need it. I should be able to throw it out with a lack of guilt, right?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Toss it or donate, whichever. Clearly it wasn't given with your special interests in mind, due to the nature of how it came to you.

Oh, it was all done in fun. She will be having a yard sale this spring but some of the stuff was pretty decent. There's always that one gift in a Yankee Swap, though, you know? This was in addition to our regular gift grab - and I got a fantastic gift there. I'm just trying to do a better job with the clutter. That's a goal of mine for 2015.

Is a Yankee swap just the east coast name for a white elephant gift exchange or secret santa?

different connotations save the last one.

White elephant involves cheap stuff you don't want. Secret Santa is just gift buying to people designated at random.

Yankee swap doesn't connotate amount, necessarily.

We do a YS at work.

Put your "gift" on the table and we pull names. Suggested gift is $20.
#1 goes first.
Then #2. After you pick you can keep yours or switch with a present already opened.
After we done #1 can go and swap with anyone they want.

We get some great stuff. Couple years ago someone opened a mounted "give me that fillet o fish" from he commercial (along with a $20 gift card for a deli.

I took it cause I wanted the fish to give my kid.

Couple turns later a girl took mine cause she wanted the deli gift card.

I had to go home and buy the fish on eBay --- got it on the 24th and gave to ET. Still in his room. Love sneaking in and setting it to motion :)
