The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Snowy night in NE MPLS right now. One of those beautiful snows with the gently falling big flakes. I'm sure I'll be cursing about it tomorrow as my car has tires that DO. NOT. WORK. with the least amount of white stuff on the ground.
Very pretty snow out there this AM. Wish it had come a few days ago so it had been white Christmas but at least it'll be a white New Year.
Going to be cold enough for the city to get the outdoor rinks back up and running although it'll take a while. I checked out the closest outdoor rink to our house and it should be skateable after another flooding or two, others will take a lot more work as the water drained off as it melted. Jr skated for about 3 hours last night on the pond across the street with the mite and mini-nite who live over there. They are both very good skaters for their first year of hockey. Both kids are very athletic and Jr hopes they'll stick with the hockey as they could be very good. He says the mite is already better than most of the C squirts he is helping coach.
Fun time last night, the lad and several of his cousins are now 21 so many of the cousins, aunt, uncles, and various friends met at the Dubliner for several hours. Always a funs place and they always have live Irish music. Probably the start of a new family tradition.
Very fun night last night, although the drive home was a bit tricky due to the snow (no, I didn't drive, I am smarter than that). Another great performance by the JH band, and his daughter has really.....turned out well. As a singer, too.
A buddy who I see maybe once a year or so is in town, probably just hanging out with him today. Living it up until 4am and waking up at 9am....not the best idea anymore when you get to be my age.
Made homemade brats for the first time last night/this morning. They are bacon cheddar beef brats, with thyme and horseradish. Tried the sausage last night and it tasted great. Stuffed it in some hog casings this morning. I'm going to make 1 more batch of a different style (more complicated) an
nd then I'm going to smoke all of them.
At George Bush intl waiting for my flight to Tampa. Not working for the next 6 weeks or so is going to be nice, for now anyways. I'll probably get stir crazy in a month though.
Bucs football game tomorrow to hopefully see them secure the #1 pick, then maybe college hockey down in Estero Monday for the Florida tourney. Leaving for my drive to NY somewhere later in the week, depends on weather.
