Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

I've been trying to pick a number.. Thinking something like 7000 or 8000..

Lets just say that it won't exceed the attendance for the 6AA section championship game.

edit: I wouldn't be surprised if the Big Mistake didn't exceed that mark either.

Howdy Lodge. Freezing here today. Thankfully no snow in the forecast. Just read that there was an earthquake in southern California.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Morning, Lodj.

Why, oh why!, did I stay up late watching "The Making of Caddyshack"? Sure it's interesting in theory, but when you see that it's on for two hours, you know they've only got 40 minutes of show, with a lot repeated. Every time they come back from an ad, it's spend two minutes recapping what you just said three minutes ago. It's almost like they know some doofus will watch anyway!

Just in time for our family vacation there next weekend! :gulp!:

Scarlet, at the BU women's game on Saturday, sitting right next to the band (who just *rocks*) -- my daughter had that look like, "I was pretty sure I was going to college anyway, but if this is what college is like, sign me up right now!" :)

They finally rebooted the server on the train I am on. Of course we are now approaching Baltimore so I will have to sign off soon.

Everywhere from somewhere in NJ south to wherever seems to have a dusting to an inch of snow. The woman sitting next to me was supposed to fly from NY to DC but her flight was cancelled. It isn't clear why unless there is black ice on the runway. However all the roads look fine.

I watched that the last time it was on! And I think it was on just as late because I didn't get through the whole thing. I love that behind the scenes stuff.

We're doing five office visits in California starting on the 3rd. I'm a teeny bit anxious now!!

Well, if you want to bring her here for a visit, let me know. I'm friendly with teh Dean of Students office and could arrange a VIP tour of campus. Maybe you should come during hockey season!! And thanks for the nice words about the band in the game thread. Man that poster is an a** isn't he? Good to see the other MN posters backing you up.

In the Wow, this is amazing news! department, we saw on the Sports Business Journal this morning that we were nominated for Sports Sponsor of the Year!! It is an awards show, so given my experience with them, I'm going to push to go!!

Are you all fired up for the big WMU-DU tilt at the Discount Center?

Not really. I am more looking forward to getting away from the office for a couple of days, seeing good friends and family. With family, that means I don't have to pay a bar tab. It will be funny walking around wearing my Blackhawks jersey and people thinking I am associated with the Whioux fans.

Realistically, how many fans on average did North Dakota bring to the Final Five. That's the question that I'm trying to accurately answer. 6000ish was my initial guess, and then I figured the other three schools would bring 1000-1500, and 500 from the schools not participating. That's roughly how I got to 8000.

I think 6000 from UND is about right, but I bet there aren't 1000-1500 fans from WMU, Miami and DU combined. DU brought about 12 fans total to the final 5, and that was in years they were actually good. I don't see Western traveling well, and Miami? I don't know, but I don't expect much. I'd guess 300-400 fans max from those three schools.

edit: Target center is going to look like a Class A 11AM quarterfinal game, or.....like a normal Timberwolves game. I don't see the X being much better, only MN and WI will bring anyone, and there just haven't been many UW fans at the latest final 5's. Given the general lack of interest in the BIG Mistake compared to what the Final 5 brought, I'm guessing they'll bring even less. The Gopher fans will probably show up like normal, but I think among them, there is a bit of apathy towards the BIG 10. I know my fiance was a season ticket holder last year, and now she has no interest in going to watch MN play Michigan and Ohio State.

Mornin' y'all.

PAC meeting for the junior high girls golf team tonight..How I got roped into this, I'm not exactly sure, but the pay is pretty fantastic for 8 weeks of "work."

We had our season ending banquet for hockey last night. It was awesome to get back with the guys again one last time, but it wasn't any easier thinking back on what could have been. It was tough talking about such a successful year knowing that we had unfinished business. Our head coach **** near lost it, and this is a guy who I don't think anyone could imagine crying. (6' 1" 270, etc.) Emotional but good night to close out our season for good.

I suppose it was a little bit different, but when I went to the West Regional at Mariucci, when UMD had the miraculous come back against Princeton, and Miami won the regional, I believe as a four seed, I was very impressed with how they traveled. WMU didn't travel spectacularly for their game against UND at the regional at the X, though.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

I just got an invitation to hottie bartender's restaurants 30th anniversary celebration. Ha! I can't believe I made the list. Sadly it's the Thursday of the Frozen Four so I can't go. I should send them something though.

Good afternoon Lodge.

I had a good weekend. I did not get serial killed, so I got that going for me. Though I did tell probably not a serial kiler after the hockey loss on Friday which he attended that if we managed to beat the same team Saturday when he wasn't there he would be banned from going to hockey games with me.

The pairwise is too volatile and makes me nervous. Worse yet, I'll be on a plane for Michigan's game on Thursday and should they survive that, I'll be at a wedding for the Friday game.

Hope ya'll had good weekends. Stupid work week, at least it's only 4 days for me this week.

If he's still around, you could try again next season. Maybe it will have worn off. The Little Gopher Fan's record hadn't been great, but of the two hockey games we've been to this calendar year, the team we were rooting for won.

My dad, who is a BU alum, is not allowed to go with me to games any more. He is a total jinx. Though.....he came with me the night Agganis Arena opened as it was a big event and he saw Harry Agganis play while at BU and you know, the whole Greek thing. We hosted Minnesota and I assumed we would lose so I thought it would be OK for him to be there. And then BU won. But there have been several other instances where his presence made them lose.

Then he got this little part time job and met this guy who was a huge BC hockey fan and he told this guy about me and he wanted to treat us to a game at Conte. BU won there, which amused me. He asked my dad about going to a game with him at Agganis as he had never been and my dad checked with me - ha! I told him he wasn't going with me so I didn't have any issue and BU won.

Last summer I went to the Red Sox game with my dad and who do we see walking in? New Terrier Head Coach David Quinn. I introduced him to my dad and told him that I don't allow him to come to games with me any more as the last game he went to was a soul-sucking loss to Harvard last season, totally reinforcing his jinx abilities. Coach Quinn says to me "Well, I'm new so maybe it doesn't work with me. He should come to a game!" You would think I brought him to a million games thsi year with their record - heh. I did not. And I might not ever, regardless of what Coach said. Can't take that chance!!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

Yes, they're fun to watch. Three lines with little drop off, which is rare in the women's game. I have been well; how about you? Have you adjusted to life outside of MN?

Missed responding to this along the way... Michigan certainly isn't Minnesota, but it's not all bad. And we've added to the family - our Little Gopher Fan was born in October. She loves hockey already.

I'm glad someone else understands these kind of superstitions. While part of me knows that what I do has no impact on the game, I still can't let go of my superstitions.

No real worry about banning probably not a serial killer from hockey since who knows if he'll last until October. Though, at this point I still don't have anyone to take to the Frozen Four with me, so maybe I'll take him. No need to worry about a jinx since my team will not be playing.

Just got my phone to change TV channels on Direct TV, Cable, Dish, etc. Now when I want to watch hockey at the bar, I will watch hockey at the bar. :D
