Lil went to jail a few nights ago after drinking and driving, causing an accident and blowing a bad number on a Breathalyzer. Or so I heard from my Dad and Stepmother as I sat in front of his dorm while waiting for him to bring the rest of his stuff home for the mini break. Really well thought out scam. They called my folks, knew the name lil called my Dad, put 'lil' on the phone with my Dad. Told him he had a cold so his voice sounded off, said they would not process the ticket etc if he could pay the damages to the other car because the he only blew .006 above the limit (never mind he can't legally drink). Told them he had to get off the phone and they would transfer the lawyer. The lawyer got on the phone. Told them he had until 3 or he would be put in with the general population, how to obtain the $ using green cash cards, etc.

My parents are uber, uber paranoid (both have had Top Secret clearance from the gov't, I joke my Stepmum must be in the witness protection program she is so paranoid) and they came very close to going thru with giving him the cash. Called him as they were going out the door to score the $$. He answered and was very surprised to hear he was in jail and going to be put into the general population if he didn't pay up! Way more to the story but all I can say is it was very well done.

Well, it got ;lil to call the other grandparents to let them know he wasn't jailed :p

We can't figure out how they figured out some of the info. Lil doesn't post much on social media and if he does it isn't what he calls his grandfather and grandmother. Mr was saying one of the hockey guys had something similar happen to his GF and her grandparents. Also very well researched. Yikes.

If you have any presence on the interwebs, your info will be found out. If you don't have a presence, the Freedom Of Info Acts provide a great detail of your info. I did one of those free searches one time, and it was scary. Kinda wish I could go back in time and hide/do-an-aka stuff on the 'net.

Just returned for my annual visit to the Holiday exhibits at the US Botanical Gardens. Much better than last year. I don't know why I decided to go the first day that it was open.

Unless what he calls his grandparents are very common expressions, I would think it must be something either he or perhaps his grandparents themselves have posted somewhere.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. Had a heck of a spread on the boat, certainly better than I would have had at my place ;)

Mark, you and the extended family are certainly in my thoughts during this time. I can't even imagine.

The thing is we are all pretty locked down and no one remembers posting anything about what he calls my folks. Ah well. It made for interesting conversation at the table today.

Honestly, that really doesn't matter. I'm serious when I say it's friggin' scary what people can find out. You get into Tor and the Deep Web...nothing is safe. Nothing. I'm pretty locked down, also, including using a fake last name on sites, and still....

Oh, I know you can find out facts. It was the Stuff that would be known only if you were physically around. Big brother lives!!
