Found a bank with Australian and Japanese currency. But they charge $20 to non-members. Doh!

I passed on that for now.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

I found out this morning that my buddy (college roommate) is going to be the assistant coach for his daughter's U6 hockey team. The head coach is Johnny Pohl, whose daughter is also on the team. My buddy's worried that the kids will notice a drop off in the quality of skating and coaching from the head coach to the assistant. :)

I'm trying to convince him to wear his SCSU jersey to practice. He's not going for it so far.

Neighbor across the street has one son playing mites and the other termites this year. The termite has a Suter and another son of a Wild player on his team (forgot which one). Too bad the dads are too busy to help with the coaching.

When I was playing as a kid, the upper ranks of the Apple Valley hockey system had a number of kids whose fathers were North Stars; AV was convenient for getting to the Met Center. I don't know how involved the North Stars were in their sons' teams since I was always on a C team and the only player's son I played against was Basil McRae's kid. Basil was still playing with the Stars then, so he clearly wasn't able to coach that team.

You can tell them Pohls are meaningless. :)

At that age, Mark Osiecki's boy was on my son's team and I enjoyed the heck out of coaching with him - or should I say moving the cones to where he asked. :D

Was always fun to watch him taking great glee in knocking out a kid in torpedo (where the kids skate end to end and us coaches zing cones at them). :D:D

He got into it.

Oh yeah, and while it's a thrill (and an asset) at first to have the former players around your program, most of the ones that I've dealt with have ultimately become pains in the arse to the clubs that their kids are in. Tend to want to pick their own teams and elevate their own kids or their buddy's kids to teams they don't belong on.

Also tend to be Type-A's who don't like to take direction from the board or the tryout selection committees.

Don't get me wrong... nice enough guys and all that - just a pain with their ulterior motives.

We have a certain former Gopher and minor league player, now an agent, who fills that bill. His oldest son is a punk too who got kicked off the high school JV team last year.

Holy crap my dad's leg is gross. He'll be fine eventually, though. It is clear that the thing he is starting to suffer from the most is being confined to that room.

Had a good meeting with my new supervisor. No promotion yet, but based on the meeting today I'm optimistic that it isn't too far off.

Brent, RE your post earlier about helping Friday night. If you are free, cone over anytime after 4, with a little assistance I can get the roof finished in about 20 minutes.

That describes most of the fathers and some of the mothers around the program Lil was in. And none of them were really anyone with skill. THey thought their kids had plenty of skill

Will do. I don't mind putting in a little work. I have the day off. Going beer hunting in the morning, hopefully buying my costume stuff after that, then I am free.

Tuesday almost was a Scarlet Tuesday, but things leveled out, and ended up being fantastic. Hopefully the next two days go like this, so I can just ease into my 3 day weekend.
