Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

I've wanted to see BZ for years & years but every time he's been in town something has come up or we were gone. I will not miss this opportunity.

The boss & I were talking about future trips; thinking some time in the Big Easy then chasing down some Zydeco clubs on the Bayou is in our future. Would love to do in in the fall and try to score tickets for an LSU game but that might be a dream.

There are only two bands I wish I had gone to see and never got to: Floyd and the Dead. Everyone else on my list was checked off. However, those two misses...big ones.

As for the Fair, I'm all about the food. The rest is bonus. :)

So, the wife took me camping this past weekend, she has been wanting to go for a while. I can do the parts where we sit around the fire, drink beer, etc. But I need a shower that I don't have share with 50 other people. I need a decent place to brush my teeth. I need a decent mattress to sleep on, and somewhere I can actually stand up to get dressed. Need to push the cabin direction.....

The cabin is a little more work than you think of but most cabin owners enjoy the yardwork, etc. and it's just so awesome to have your own space and whatnot to enjoy as a getaway.

If you have a cabin with running water only (and I'd be fine with that), it shouldn't be THAT much work. Kind of like owning a "house lite." Heat? Fireplace. Cooking? Campfire. Electricity? Pfft. Candles/lanterns. I am not fond of the super-cabins that are more luxurious than a house.

I'm all for the cabin being smaller and less luxurious. It's extremely nice having water, electricity, sewer, etc. There are a ton if houses on Green Lake now that are just ridiculous. Multi million dollar homes on a lake with outrageous property taxes. That I just don't like; a cabin should be a small getaway that has an extremely "homey" feel, not house #2 (or 3, 4, etc)

There's plenty of ways to do it. I've seen set ups where they have two different flat screens on the side of the RV so you watch 2 different games at the same time while you stand around at their portable bar they have. I also know of one GVSU fan who had another flat screen installed on the driver's side of his RV so that when he's parked next to the guy with the 2 flatscreens and portable bar, you can watch another game on that TV.

IMO, those set ups are best if you're going to a late evening game. Lets you catch the action of all of the early games and most of the late afternoon games as well. Once the game is over with, most event staffs across the country are going to want you to clear out so they can clean up the tailgate area. And they're usually not happy with you celebrating a win over their team as well out in the parking lot.

That sounds awesome. I'm just trying to find the best way to broadcast; dish, direct tv, a wireless card and hdmi cord, etc.

I don't mind the full on camping, BUT as I am older now...just give me running water. Please. The rest? Well, the point is to get away from it all, right? :)

Good Morning Lodge.

Ankle/foot a little more swollen today. Not sure if I'll stay full day in the office at this rate. It'd be nice to get it elevated a bit more.

Screw that. I'm not buying a cabin without electricity. The point of going that route is to be MORE comfortable. I'm not looking for some come-to-Jesus nature moment here.

I don't care about more work, I just want a place to shower, watch TV, sleep on a bed, etc.

Getting away from it all means getting away from work, stress, etc. If anything, not having normal comforts is going to put my stress level through the roof. Sorry, I would not be ok with any cabin that doesn't have all of the luxuries I want. Plumbing/Electricity is absolutely a 100% must, not having it is a deal breaker. Need at least 2 bedrooms, and room for pull-out couches. Satellite dish, with nice big TV, preferably with a way to swing it our to watch on the deck. Decent kitchen. Heat and A/C. Denying myself of these things is not going to be fun, it is not going to be stress relieving. It is going to make me ornery, stressed, and extremely stinky.

edit: also, need a hot tub and/or sauna

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

That's called a hotel. ;)

Edit: especially with you going into detail in your previous post.
Only if the hotel is on a lake, and you don't share a wall with anyone, and you own it yourself and can do with it what you want.

Yeah... that's a house on a lake, not a cabin.

Nothing wrong with that - it's what my parents have as they live there 6 months of the year.

I spent about 45 minutes stuck on 35W today between 62 and downtown Minneapolis. There was an accident just before the 94 westbound exit, and it looked to involve a truck that was hauling glass. It had that section of the highway shutdown to one lane, normally a three-lane stretch. It's been a great start to my day, I tell you.

Still a cabin in my book. If it isn't my primary residence, and it is on a lake, and I go there for vacations. A cabin it is.

Had a meeting with a new marketing girl. Imagine my surprise when she came off as competent! ! That was a nice change og pace!
