Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #172: Did you see your shadow?

We are having a blast. Food, friends, cards and booze. The issue is that we are at the mercy of making sure the generators keep running and making sure the propane doesn't run out for the heater. Both are approaching critical..........as of right now there is no way get us anything.

The plows tried keeping the roads open yesterday. Not an exaggeration, within 15 minutes the roads were drifted shut with three to four feet of snow. I have never witnessed such ferocious white out conditions.

A guy in another group down the way left his window open on his SUV just a few inches. His Tahoe is nearly full of snow on the inside and yes he is from Wisconsin. ;)

oops. This sounds epic.

NOt sure how I would feel stuck like that.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #172: Did you see your shadow?

these heatin' appliances. hmmm, how do they not melt said ice?

but they have a roof :) so it cycles, yes?

and while i suppose 3ft thick ice ain't breaking...it does get wet in there, maybe?!?! :D

The floor of the house is insulated and carpeted.

We have ten 10" holes drilled to fish out of. In addition to the weight of the house we have six guys plus all our gear. Five vehicles parked outside the house. Not one bit of ice will melt and the strength of the ice has not been diminished.

Can't wait to get home to watch USA play for gold in hockey. I hope we get to play Finland. Should be a cakewalk.

I would keep a watch out for white walkers as well. Really sounds like one of those situations where the drone delivery service could be darn useful. Keep you from running out of beer and snacks at least.

Afternoon Lodge. *Olympic hockey.

gman - hope they can get you some propane and gasoline. They have any snowcats that can get out over the snow?

Well this has been a fun 24 hours at the F* Hockey Table

Still have 1 more game to go too... Thank God that I have other sports interests this weekend so I can get away from this **** game for a short time at least :p

The resort we are renting from is a top notch operation. However, both their plow trucks broke down yesterday. Their bombardier also broke down. Believe it or not it is even difficult to get a snowmobile out here let alone loaded with supplies.

We have dialed down the thermostat and we are monitoring everything that requires to be plugged in as we don't want to blow a fuse on the generator. If we need gas we have five vehicles..........

The group made a decision that if things got really bad they would eat me first. :( :D

We are having a blast. If we were cityslickers then it would be a different story. ;)

Edit. There was about fifteen other groups out here. They started evacuating yesterday morning. Most of the other groups were comprised of families or some elderly folks or others who were really nervous about the weather. Our group and one other volunteered to go last knowing full well we would be taking one for "the team".

Good afternoon, Lodj.

Last night was Round 1 of the end-of-the-year tournament for my squirt team. The other team scored with 4 minutes left in the game to take the lead, and you could see a little bit of anxiousness in our guys. But we called them over and said, You're doing things right, Keep playing the way we've been playing, We'll tie this up, you'll see. Etc. We scored 30 seconds later to tie it up, then again with 1:30 left in the game for the win. Amazing! It was very satisfying to see them not give up. Round 2 is later this afternoon, against the #1 team. I hope we can play just as solidly, no matter the outcome.

Morning Lodge, Happy National Margarita Day!

Cheers, amigo! I'd embed that amazing Mexican Nyat Cat here, but we can't do that no more. Sad.

PS: Hold on, gmann!!!

i'm guessing then that you don't throw dynamite out to make a hole :D (or bring your dogs too ;) )

Getting ready to shovel out our vehicles. Nearly buried.

Mother Nature is pretty impressive. The drifts out here are amazing. A couple close to the house are six to eight feet tall. Just witnessed a bald eagle very close to the house. Guess what's for dinner? :p
