Morning Lodge. Subbing for the in school suspension room today and there's only one kid in here. Should be a quiet day which will allow me to get grad school work done.

Leaving straight for Duluth after work and the it's time for some BULLDOG HOCKEY!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #172: Did you see your shadow?

Yo.

Thankfully it is Friday.
With no football or Gopher hockey tomorrow, I'll be kind of lost.

What the hell you talkin' about? Gophers play the Beavers at 4 PM at Ridder on Saturday. Also, Gophers play the Finns from Sochi (OK, there are other non-Gophers on the USA team).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #172: Did you see your shadow?

mookie just trying to watch hockey on the btn tonight.. and he hears one state school yell "safety school" to the other state school!

Psst, none of: BU, UW, UMN or UMD are in the top 100 hardest to get into universities in the current lists. All are rated "Average" in ease of acceptance - except for UMD which is rated "Easy." :p

UW used to have significantly higher admission standards than UMN, but that has changed dramatically over the last several years as UMN has gotten rid of University College (which was sorta like high school) and tightened their admission standards.

wT: Where is the wedding in Texas? And why are they marrying on the Ides of March?

Also: If any of you know wjefwhite to be a good man (albeit a Wisconsin one), please help him get healthy again. I forgot how powerful a negative repping can be, and he's all red after his post 553 in the Michigan thread. The guy really needs to learn to recognize sarcasm!

Morning, Lodj.

I saw that list. Or at least the US News list. 2 of the top 7 were conservatories. (Curtis and Julliard.) It's ridiculous getting into a good music school. At a place like Yale (I applied for grad school there) they take 2 clarinets a year. Two! I always like breaking that out when people say, "I'll never get in to [Grad School X] -- they only take 150 in a class!" Really. Wow. 150. Well, . . . :D

So what you're saying is that your poor choice of instrument precluded you from attending a fine Ivy institution like Ylae? :p

If he played trumpet, I'm sure he could've easily blasted his way to the front of the line. ;)

That's right. That, and work ethic. :p

So parents, tell your children: Play violin! There's dozens of those ****ers! :D

Umm, I believe it is called a fiddle.

No, no it's not.

Hey, I won the turkey lottery! I can hunt too if we go ahead this year. Region 501, season A. If we end up going in a later season Jr can get a license and I'll just come watch. If it doesn't work with your schedule that's OK too.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #172: Did you see your shadow?

My professors always called the bassoon "the scholarship instrument." Well, that and "the farting bedpost."

I have a friend who only got into UW because she plays the bassoon. One of our other friends, he applied there, too, had a much better ACT and GPA than hers, was denied. He was so pi**ed.
