Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

It's over 70 degrees out very windy in 202-land! The monsoon should start in a few hours.

On the night shift now MEUSA?
Nervous parent duty.

Younger daughter had to drive to Philly to pick up older daughter who was coming in from Texas. Due to the storms, her flight out of DFW was delayed over 2 hrs meaning she was going to miss her connecting flight into Hartford and there were no other flights until this morning.

Youngest got lost (with a GPS) where the Garden State Pkwy and 95 intersect and lost almost an hour. After talking her through that I was wide awake, and pacing. She got to the airport in Philly around midnight. They pulled in here about 4:30 (she left at 6:30 last night).

The good news is my oldest is home for Christmas, though she's leaving on the 30th so won't be here for New Year's. The bad news is she brought along her boyfriend... who's from Wisconsin! Our first meeting will be when he wakes up in my house after that travel nightmare. And, yes, I have a plan...  ;)

Good morning to tLodge! ;)

Good morning Lodge.

5 degrees but it feels like -10. Wind chill advisory for today. Might see wind chills in the -25 to -35 range.

The good news is that since he is from Wisconsin he is comfortable sleeping outside with your dog in the dog house. :) ;)

Though MarkE may be getting a phone call
From authorities when they follow the trail of footprints through the snow back to his house from the violated deer that roam CT

That and he probably should verify that his veterinarian makes house calls on Sundays. His poor dog is never going to look at bones the same again. :D

Quite an ice storm we have going on right now, still have power but if it keeps raining... 30 degrees and rain aren't good for trees or power lines

Yo.

Christmas dinner with extended family today, then going to attack the local mall for Christmas shopping. That should be an adventure.

Good Morning Lodge.

Shotgun cleaned, ammo laid in?

I always liked:

MEUSA: So, would you like to have a beer with me?
Date: Sure!
MEUSA: Oh, so you're going to drink and drive! (or if underage: You think I'm providing for a minor?)

MEUSA: So, would you like to have a beer with me?
Date: No, sir.
MEUSA: Oh, too good to have a beer with your girl's father, huh?!

I think I am coming down with whatever little gII had. I feel like shiat. The drive home is going to suck.

Hopefully the vikings win today and wrap up home field throughout the playoffs.

Mama's the gun toter in the family. She'll handle that part of the interrogation.

I'm actually thinking of something like this. Of course, I don't drink so that makes it a little harder, but I will probably offer an after dinner beverage.

Our initial meeting this morning went well. My daughter introduced us and he came over, shook my hand (quite firmly I might add), and said "it's a pleasure to meet you, sir". Yes, he called me "sir"! My daughter later took me aside and asked me what he should call me. I said "Mr. P..." will do for now (and that's how my younger daughters boyfriend addresses me).

He's from Superior, WI and his family are farmers. His dad is also a minister so he has some strong religious beliefs (we knew this already as our daughter told us). He likes hockey and is actually a fan of Daloot! I gave him his first points since he's neither a Badger or Gopher fan. He's not really a football fan, but likes the Vikings while his family leans more towards the Packers. He said he's more of an outdoorsy type (hunting, fishing, camping, motorcyles, snowmobiles) than a sports fan. In fact, he said my daughter is probably a bigger fan than he is.

I went easy on him and didn't really grill him... yet. I'll save that for later.

Truth be told, he seems like a nice young man. Very quiet (a little too shy so far) and soft spoken. He obviously isn't going to try and bs his way around us. They say first impressions go a long way and I was impressed by the one he made on me this morning.

Further updates will be forthcoming over the course of the next week. ;)

There is a dog house out back that hasn't been used in years (our current dogs are way too domesticated). That, and the garage, have been pointed out as viable sleeping quarters this week. ;)

What did Mark's dog ever do to you?
Truth be told, I'm not sure I would subject him to the dogs. They're big, spoiled brats and usually get treated better than me around here. :(

Most of the people I've know from WI will disown Superior when asked, it's located right across the border from Duloot. In general, some of the weirdest things that happen in that state come from the oddballs found there. I do believe that Superior is the location of the roadside dead-deer ****ing incident. Ask him about that. :D
