Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Good Morning, Lodge!

Finishing making the pumpkin cookies and then off to St. Cloud to have an early Christmas with Mr.'s family.

64 degrees in 202-land according to my bike computer. (Of course it also tells me that I am 40 feet below sea level. I better recalibrate that. :D ) Supposed to get to 73 tomorrow, but with rain.

Yo.

Some flu bug or something tried to get me yesterday; had the full body aches, stuffed sinuses, etc, got worse as the day went on. Worked through it, and thankfully my immune system is strong, and a couple extra hours sleep kicked its' arse. :)

Lazy day today with the woman before a whole bunch of Christmas stuff tomorrow.
Something like that's been going around. One of my coworkers had the aches and fever, but that's it. From the sounds of it, it's a bad fever, and that guy's in pretty good shape. It sounds like you got lucky.

It's actually a good thing that the altitude and %-grade are based upon air pressure and probably ridiculously inaccurate (although the calculation of total amount one goes up hill is probably fairly good) since it will keep me from looking at much during rides and getting distracted. Watching my pulse rate change was fun. I never had any of those things on bike computers before.

so you're the 1 person excited to go to Detroit.

It isn't Detroit that I'm exactly excited for, but I heard there is a few events going on that may or may not involve hockey. Plus getting to see the old man for a few days (he's a lifelong leafs fan, I've been a wings fan since I knew what the NHL was).

Men, Florida kinda sucks from June to September for heat/humidity in a deep fryer, but I prefer that to the 5 months of frigid temps back in NY.

Howdy Lodge. Just got back from my hairdresser. Haven't been since before my Emmys trip. I had gone to a salon when I was in Atlanta but it's not the same as having your normal stylist. My hair always feels so healthy when I leave there, the color looks great, the cut makes me feel like I lost 5 lbs.

Anyway, my brother flies in tonight at 9:30. Trying to plan the next few hours. I suppose I could go out to grab a bite, then maybe do some shopping before I head to the airport. Or not.

Going to the Packer game tomorrow, between my house and Lambeau Field they are predicting anywhere from 1-5 inch of snow depending how far north you are. This drive is going to absolutely suck, not because I could be driving in snow but for all the other idiots on the roads.

And it'll suck doubly so because you're in Wisconsin.

Good evening Lodge.

Busy day. Drove to St. Cloud (2 hours round trip) to finish Xmas shopping. I knew exactly what I wanted to get so I went there and was back home by 9:30 this morning. Got home and then drove to the inlaws.

Little g II fought off whatever bug he had. 24 hours ago he was in pretty rough shape. He woke up this morning and was ready to roll.

The in laws are kinda tolerable. Either that or the whiskey is numbing things. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Based upon historical posts, my bet goes with the whiskey.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Found out that my family isn't trying to get everyone together for Xmas this year. My oldest brother hosts his in-laws on Xmas Eve every year so he never hosts Xmas Day. My youngest brother often hosts Xmas and I received an invite from him earlier this week. I just received a text from my second oldest brother saying that he'd not heard anything yet. Curious, and this isn't a good omen for future years either. It's likely that I received my invitation to Xmas celebration because I'm getting the "mom" treatment, as in all the others are married so they have people already whereas I do not and therefore receive special consideration. My mom used to do this with me when it came to buying gifts; I always received more than the others because I wasn't exchanging with a girlfriend or spouse. It was irritating then and somewhat worrisome now.

Did I mention our tankee swap at work Thursday?

I picked some gift card and traded with a dude holding a flask and 200ml bottle of Jameson.

Turns out this flask is trixie and milo
Worth $29

As the guide was bring a gift of $20-25 I made out! (Even though I threw in a $29 bottle of grey goose :)

You can bundle up against the cold and be find, but you can only get so naked and you'll still be miserable in the hot humid stuff. Plus, bugs like the humid weather.
