Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Greetings from The Woodlands, Texas. Nice and warm here! What a difference from home! Unable to have dinner with the ridiculously hot athlete who is at the event I'm going to. Bummer. I wish the tv here got NBCSN. Would've liked to watch hockey. Instead it's all reruns....

Shouldn't you have the NHL Centre Ice (or whatever they call it now) package to run on your phone or tablet with all the traveling you do?

you can get the nbcsn app and plug in your cable log in to watch via that, ya know....

So I wake up this morning, check my cell phone for any missed calls, a habit that I picked up during the last year that I could probably stop doing now. At any rate, I check the phone, all's well. I set it down on the table, go to take care of my morning ablutions, then go to check my phone for the time. Nothing. The screen won't respond. I try the reset phone process and it won't respond. My phone turned into a brick at around 6:15 this morning. I am so glad I actually paid for the insurance coverage on that thing. It's the first time I've ever done that, and it's actually going to pay off.

mookie's did that. was at cc for dinner and looked at phone, put it on chair. picked up later on and dead.
took to best buy to get new one after a couple days of dead once i tried to charge. moron put some light in it and said, "wet! circuits fried. get a new one."
tubby inspired mookie to go home and bury phone in a big cup of rice. phone turned one two days later.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Madre/kids and I are probably headed over to a friends' place for NYE. They have kids, too (he's actually "Schmacon" on this board, but rarely rarely posts, and he's the one that intro'd Madre to me). I haven't gone out on the town for NYE in years. Not worth it, with all the crowds and the drunks on the road. Would rather chill with friends.

I'm at a coaching clinic and the guy running it is a complete tool. The guest speaker was pretty good and had good ideas; this guy? Absolute moron.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

I never go out on NYE. I think the last time we went out was before we were married. Stay at home, sometimes have friends over, make gourmet meal and watch movies

I went out once on New Year's Eve and it was overrated.

I'm sorry. Horrid movie.

And MNS: also true on the expense. I think the funnest NYE my friends and I had, we road-tripped to Eau Claire and got hotel rooms (their bars stay open until 5-6am that night!!!). Ketel/tonics were $3, bars were crowded but not overpacked due to the odd hours, fun times.

WOW!!! That is Glorious!!! A Man walks down the street in that shirt, people know he's not afraid of anything.:D

New Year's is one of the best times to go out....it's just too expensive, sadly.
True. If you're single, all you gotta do is just be brave enough to chat up a group of ladies and you're pretty much in with them for the night. Odds are if there's a group of them, one's bound to be single and available that evening.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Have typically gone out somewhere for new years. Back home, a friends parents rented out the VFW for NYE and a bunch of friends would go there for the night. Last year I went out in Tampa (pricey though, but it was open bar...). going to be in Detroit for NYE with the old man this year, but who knows what we'll do.

You never try to break through the wall. 3 ladies? Better have 2 friends with you. And that's about the limit. 2:2 is perfect, 1:1 is possible/probable.

Not on NYE. You're forgetting about getting a kiss at midnight, which makes it the worse possible moment of the year to not be with somebody. The herd knows this and will let you in so that their friend does have somebody to be with when the new year arrives. You just have to be really confident in yourself to do it. That or have Muffins on your front. Either way, worst that happens is they shut you down. what do you have to lose at that point?

Well, you're probably not going to be getting 9's and 10's via the new years eve zone of availability, but how often are you going to be picking them up at a bar anyways? Ugly girls need lovin' too!! ;)
