Good morning Lodge.
Good morning Lodge.
Such a shame when that happens...
THis sounds very familiar.... I don't miss it.Good Morning Lodge.
Could have strangled Jr this morning.I drop him at a rink for skating lesson on Fridays and he's been slower and slower to get ready each time and bichin at me every time I urge him to move. I had to use the bathroom at the rink and when I left at 6:32 he was not out of the locker room yet for his 6:30 lesson. He wants me to wake him at 5:30, next week I'm waking him at 5 AM and will keep doing that until he starts moving his butt in the morning.
Nice to hear!Morning/Afternoon, Lodj.
My squirts won a game last night, how about that? We couldn't do it the easy way, though -- led 3-0 halfway through the 3rd, doing a really good job of keeping the ice tilted their way, then gave up 3 goals to force overtime. You could feel it slipping away! But after 2 good scoreless OTs we won in a shootout. (On the 6th round!) Nice to get a win.
At an outdoor tournament, too, so there was that contented feeling of being part of something older and valuable; and the wonder that, despite its evanescence, that feeling is still attainable.![]()
Howdy Lodge. Long day and I'm finally home and watching college hockey on the TV. My foot is killing me. It's foot where I had surgery this summer. les - you might know - if I had a stress fracture in my foot, would it be swollen? My foot is not swollen so I feel as if I have pulled every muscle on the top of my foot. With all the travel I've been doing, I think I must have done something to it. Plus the boots I've been wearing because of the weather have made it more noticeable. I will take some Advil and plan to soak it, as that is what my surgeon had recommended months ago. Should I ice it as well?
It was such a long day on my feet wearing uncomfortable snow boots. I felt like I may want to go to the ER tonight to get it Xrayed to make sure it's not something like a stress fracture but I want to rest it tonight and see how it feels tomorrow.
Spent most of the day with former Olympian Angela Ruggiero - she won gold with women's hockey in 1998, silver in Salt Lake in 2002, bronze in Torino in 2006 and silver in Vancouver. Very interesting person. She's a member of the IOC now and a student in Harvard Business School. It was pretty cool to hear her talk about why she felt they didn't win in 2002 after winning in Nagano.
The HHT for the Gopher women will have to do for tonight. The men play a stupid Sun/Mon series. On the plus side, lots of college hockey on the tvs tonight. Again, that will have to do.
Quiet weekend at Chez Rube, just chilling with MdD. She threw down a cribbage challenge, and she also wants to learn chess, and try out Gran Turismo on the PS3, since I told her she could race with a Mustang (she used to have one in high school).
downright balmy out there, just a lot of patchy fog out there driving home tonight. There's been a 50 degree swing here since yesterday morning. -15 when I left the house yesterday around 7:45 am. It's about 35 now, and it's going to be 45 the next couple days.
Sounds more like an overuse issue to me. Go with ice and don't bother with the ER.Howdy Lodge. Long day and I'm finally home and watching college hockey on the TV. My foot is killing me. What Les said. RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) usually the way to go with just about anything.Ice is never bad.
Unless you are in unbearable pain ER is not the place to go. Call the primary and ask what they recommend. The ER is for emergencies. They may do an xray but they really aren't going to do much else except possibly put you in a boot and tell you to see ortho next week. Some stress fx don't show on xray and may need a scan to see it. Not worth the extra co-pay. Ice, ice, ice, OTC pain meds and elevate the thing. [disclaimer- generic speech I give folks when they come see me for stuff like this] And I commiserate with you, that stinx! I had neuromas during the winter. Dam near could not walk and had to wear boots because of snow. Boots were BAD!!. Thankful that those finally calmed down! Don't miss trying to find reasonable things to wear that were approp for what I was doing.
