Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

I have never flown Delta to CO, but I believe you are correct on the normal runways. I have always flown Frontier.

The budget airlines only fly to DIA. By the time I've rented a car, driven for 3.5-4 hours, and paid for gas, I may as well pay the extra to fly into Hayden and be an easy 20-minute drive from Steamboat Springs, so that's what I did.

Thanks, I am on Delta. Flight to CO is an EMB-170, which I think are big enough to use the normal jetways.
The ERJ Is a regional jet, so most likely you will be A, B, or C. If you are coming in on a regional as well you will most likely be in one of those 3 as well. If you come in at F.....might suck to be you.

Dog sitting, watching hockey, having some White Russians and relaxing. Good night and HHT.
The Dude abides!!

hi lodge. i'm posting from the checkout line at meijer. i might be here awhile. as hammer stated, the grocery stores are crazy today. i even had trouble finding a parking space. i'm used to this in maryland, but have never seen it in michigan. unfortunately, i'm adding to the madness and stocking up as i need to refill the fridge from vacation

Yeah, I stopped at the Meijer on Carpenter road Friday night just to grab a few things and they were totally not ready to handle that crowd trying to check out. They only had two cashiers there to check people out. Think it took me about 40 minutes to get all ranged up. Still would have thought they could have found another cashier or 2 to handle that crowd. Heck, even a trainee would have been doing something.

That, and I'm not really a fan of their new spinning bagging table system for their check lines. I think it goes faster with them just ringing it all up, and then bagging it up at the end, or better yet, having somebody else there at the end of the line bagging things up.

Current temperature in Minneapolis: -20.

Current temperature in Barrow, Alaska (far north tip of the state, above the Arctic Circle, the northernmost town in the US) -1.

Current temperature in Anchorage: 31.

It is FIFTY-ONE degrees warmer in Anchorage than in Minneapolis right now.

Have fun picking the pieces of your brain up off the floor.

 math

Epiphany. The last of the 12 days of Christmas. Finally done all the Christmas entertaining. Phew. Lil had a meet which was cancelled. Is it a sad thing I am happy to just have a day to do laundry and be domestic without having to prepare for the next party? I love entertaining but this has been a bit much.

Good morning Lodge.

Currently -25 but it feels like -52.

Good Morning Lodge.

I can't even make fun of my cousins in Lafayette, IN when they complain about the cold - it's forecast to be -11 for the high there, not much different than our forecast of -13 high. And they are not used to it at all. I bet there will be lots of frozen pipes in Illinois and Indiana.

Morning, Lodgrz.

Epiphany. The last of the 12 days of Christmas.

I still say it was yesterday. Thpppthpthpht!!!

I grew up not far from Lafayette, and we did get that occasionally -- You just had to leave the kitchen tap running all night! -- but yeah, not very often. That water line coming in to the house was buried something like 6 inches below the surface; I don't remember exactly, I just remember it wasn't too helpful. Eventually my dad (who's from Michigan) re-buried our water line a couple of feet down to take care of it once and for all.

Here's a home project question I could use some help with: We have a bathroom whose storm window I forgot to put down. It's where the shower is, so we'd put up a 2nd shower curtain to cover the window. Pulled the curtain back last night, voila! Thick ice up and down that window.

Question: How bad is it going to be when the shower gets turned on and it's next to a -20F pane of glass? I know usually you can simply get out your plastic window covers and seal up a window like that. But this is such cold weather, and it's right there in the shower, should I get out the scraper and get that window open to shut the storm?
