He is here! Took a few photos and hot his autograph. The trials are on NBCSN this weekend and he's doing the commentating.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Okay, that was one of the dumber things I've done in a while. I went to the store and bought enough food to make a soup and some pork chops for the week. A normal weekly trip for me.

It's supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow, and then get colder than hell for a couple days. 8-12" by the time it's said and done, highs below 0 on Monday and Tuesday, -10 to -15 at night. Significant snowfall? Sure. Historic, biblical proportions? Uh-uh. So why is it everyone under the sun needs to go to the grocery store and buy enough food for a month? What the F is it with people? Look. It's going to be above 25 by Thursday. This is January in Michigan. You don't need to squirrel away enough food to last until June.

My buddy keeps texting me, describing his trip to a bar in rural WI. He's not really a drinker, but he's had a few today, while over there for the in-law's family Christmas at their one-room cabin that has no running water and only a wood stove for heat. His BIL took him to the bar while on the way to get some dinner supplies. My buddy tells me that he's literally a fall down drunk right now. His wife is going to be so pleased. :D

hi lodge. i'm posting from the checkout line at meijer. i might be here awhile. as hammer stated, the grocery stores are crazy today. i even had trouble finding a parking space. i'm used to this in maryland, but have never seen it in michigan. unfortunately, i'm adding to the madness and stocking up as i need to refill the fridge from vacation

Why? In Wisconsin they call that "Saturday." ;)

I had adventures in shopping today too. Went to Sam's Club for some stuff we needed to stock up and fill up the gas tank so I don't have to do it when it is -167 F wind chill. Everyone else wanted to get gas too - madness at the pumps. Sam's wasn't bad. Needed something Sam's doesn't have so stopped at a neighborhood supermarket (Jerry's for locals) and hey were4 closed due to fire damage. Went down to the Lund's in DT Edina and everyone who wanted to shop at Jerry's was at Lund's. What a zoo.

We had some errands to run today, as well. Every place we went to was like that... Kohl's, Target, and Sam's. Thankfully, we were able to get in and out fairly quickly. We had lists, did minimal wandering, and happened upon the check lanes at opportune times when there were lulls. I'm calling it a success.

I did some grocery shopping on the way home from work last night. Not a single issue, so I got that going for me. I also found out that Cub Foods sells mini versions of Brew Pub's Lotza Mozza pizzas, which is nice.

I was at Sam's Club earlier today and was disappointed they did not have Lotza Mozza pizzas...

You carry it with you?

Of course. Why? Is that weird?

;)

Kidding. Back on September I was at my parents' house to clean out the closet in my bedroom. I found it in a bag of stuff and brought it home. We had the pre production run of show call earlier in the week and I saw that he was going to be there so I packed it.

After I got it signed I was going through and it and realized I got it autographed by Tai Babolonia and Randy Gardner. They were projected as the first US pairs skaters to defeat the Russians. During practice Randy Gardner pulled a groin and they had to withdraw. The hockey preview had a pic of Mark Johnson and Dave Silk. I can probably get Dave Silk pretty easy, just need to figure out how to get Mark Johnson. What is he doing now?

Isn't Johnson still head coach of WI women's hockey team?

Yo. Actually being quite the social butterfly today. The woman and I had breakfast with bbdl and his lady, and having dinner tonight with Almington and his lady. Then I think it's time to hunker down and avoid the cold weather that is slowly creeping in. Kind of wish I didn't have to work on Monday, but I bet we'll be really slow. Can't imagine anyone doing much of anything with my industry that day.

Go for it. That's at offsite, and I've been moved to the main building, due to a bit of reshuffling of responsibilities regarding our receiving/inbound. :p

Otherwise I'd be spewing a fistful of FU's towards ya. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Just got a friend request from a second cousin in Australia. Never met him but I decided to confirm, maybe he has a lead on a job in Sydney. ;)
