Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

It was a long day today, buried my mom. The funeral went well, and then the burial itself was very quick, with the priest taking special notice that nobody wanted to spend much time in the cold. It was still -2 at that point, around 12:40. After that the reception went well, and so did the "after party" at my brother's house. My aunt, uncle and a cousin from out east were all there, too, we all told old stories about my mom, joking at each others' expense and just had a blast. Still, I'm glad it's finished. I can do with less stress.

2013 has not been good to many of us. Godspeed, brotha.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

My lights went up last weekend. I was proud of my neighborhood, everyone waited until December for x-mas decoratons. I also put up a wreath and hung stockings for pup and myself.

No tree, though I was considering it. I'll be in Texas for a week, so I don't think a tree would be a great idea. I have started thinking about making a Flying Spaghetti Monster tree topper ornament for when I get a tree. That'd be appropriate for how I do Christmas.
I gave some consideration to kidnapping all of the stuff that the people in behind where I work at have out in their yard until after thanksgiving. But they've got more crap than what I could stuff into my car and I believe they have a Boxer and a German Shepherd. Guess I wasn't that bothered by their Christmas dinosaur this year.

Oh, and one of my cousins is back in the area visiting from California with his daughter. Kind of amused by his sister. He's staying with his mom and she comes up and drops her daughter off with him and their mother for the night. So tomorrow, he's going to be bringing both of the little girls over to the farm to see the horses. I'm kinda wondering if I'm going to end up babysitting two little girls tomorrow.

Glad things went well. You had a very long road.

First one was failure... not cooked through despite giving it more than enough time... maybe it was the cooking vessel (glass).

Glass you have to bake a little longer. I use a small skewer and poke in the middle. WHen it comes out clean it is done.

Make Pepparkauka all day long. More than 1K of cookies  then went to a cookie swap at church. I have no interest in those cookies. Sending them into work with Mr, I think. (or not, he just said no) Sigh.

Today is more baking and decorating, laundry and maybe some shopping. It is supposed to be sloppy out so shopping may win. Less people out if it is sloppy

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! I am on vacation, yay!

how did I do that every day for yrs, that is a pain in the a55!

PS- on the TV- they are talking up a HUGE!!!!1!1!! storm on the east coast. 3.8 inches is the highest total they are showing. They must be kidding!!

Good morning Lodge. Was woken up at 5:30 by my dad calling (he is driving my car to work today) and saying he was stuck on the next block. Turns out my car's transmission just stopped working, so I had to walk down there and help him push it to the side of the road.

Not a good way to start the day.

We're supposed to get about 5 inches of snow today which would be the most since I retired. When I went to the Starbucks in the local Safeway earlier, the panickers were out in force. :D

Had they cleared out the milk and toilet paper yet?

Good morning Lodge.

-10 feels like -27.

Currently at Perkins having breakfast. Not sure of the last time I have eaten here.

St. Clown. Hang in there.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Good morning, Lodgers!

Temps in the 20s here (0s at night), which is cold for Oklahoma. Still, our malamute puppy refuses to sleep inside at night, but the older one is more than happy to!

Going to Gatlinburg, TN for three days over Christmas. Does anyone know if I'll have any snow for cross-country skiing? I've never been there in the winter. I'm expecting clear skies or rain, but hoping for snow.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Is no one else concerned about monster babysitting two little girls today? Are we sure he should be allowed to do this? Is it legal? Should we be contacting Michigan State Police?

Well, it's a good thing you had your orange juice this morning.
