I'm just not tired. We practice at 6 am anyways, so I may just bust out a couple of essays right now. Ahh, college.

Also, for the first time i purchased an insider pass to rivals.com.. They were running a deal where for the $99 subscription, you receive $99 in the fanatics.com store. I figured since I'd likely be purchasing Iowa gear for my brother and sister for Christmas, I might as well try the subscription out for a year.

Happy Birthday Chickens@NU!! Slippers- have a good day!

Have the real tree up. the fake one is up, waiting to be decorated.

half the house sort of decorated. My family is 'into' Christmas. FOr the first 10 yr of my marriage people gave me presents to decorate with. Then people started dying, off loading I could seriously decorate 3 houses. I only have one. Decisions, decisions as to what to put out every yr.

Baking more pepparkauka today. then on to other stuff.

Good Morning, Lodge!

My goal is to be at work for 6 hours today. I just don't want to push myself too hard.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

My lights went up last weekend. I was proud of my neighborhood, everyone waited until December for x-mas decoratons. I also put up a wreath and hung stockings for pup and myself.

No tree, though I was considering it. I'll be in Texas for a week, so I don't think a tree would be a great idea. I have started thinking about making a Flying Spaghetti Monster tree topper ornament for when I get a tree. That'd be appropriate for how I do Christmas.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Good morning, Lodgerz.

Exciting weekend for my Squirt team. On Saturday they won against another team from our league; good, balanced game. Then on Sunday we headed out to the dreaded suburbs to play a team that beat us 426 to 2 last year (or something like that). We fell behind 3-0 after five minutes, and one of my defensemen said, "Well, they're gonna kill us." (With a smile on his face! He wasn't even dejected. It was like, "Huh, sure is windy today." Dude!) So I gave them the old, "This right here is the crucial moment of this game. If we keep doing what we've been doing, it'll keep being the same. But if we can notice what it is they've been doing, we can adjust, and stop them, and start coming back." And they did it! They adjusted, they changed, and slowed them down; and we came back for a 5 -5 tie.

That's a 3 point weekend, man! This team didn't get 3 points all last year. It also means I'm not completely crazy for thinking we didn't look too bad when we got beat 13 - 4 last week.

(Thanks for that report, Dave. We were all wondering how the weekend went.) You're welcome. Back to work now!

That brightened my day. When they get something and don't expect it, it is great!

Paying some bills.....got the first credit card bill with wedding purchases on it (50% down for photographer). Hoooo boy. We're getting a bunch of very much appreciated help from our parents, but this is still going to be expensive.

First ever brownie batch... local mets are ballparking a 25% chance of gov't shutdown tomorrow. Uh... yeah...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

It was a long day today, buried my mom. The funeral went well, and then the burial itself was very quick, with the priest taking special notice that nobody wanted to spend much time in the cold. It was still -2 at that point, around 12:40. After that the reception went well, and so did the "after party" at my brother's house. My aunt, uncle and a cousin from out east were all there, too, we all told old stories about my mom, joking at each others' expense and just had a blast. Still, I'm glad it's finished. I can do with less stress.

First one was failure... not cooked through despite giving it more than enough time... maybe it was the cooking vessel (glass).
