Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Yo. Much needed "normal" type night last night. LWB and I were at a kind of trailer park-ish, dive-ish bar (attached to bowling alley). They had some crappy pop music from some era on the speakers, so we raided the jukebox. Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello, Gipsy Kings, NOFX, etc. Oh, and Huey Lewis. :D

Lazy day today, patiently awaiting the Breaking Bad premiere tonight.

And bbdl, what LWB meant to say (this was apparently lost in translation): I know you keep quiet when someone posts some personal tragedy, and I generally am the same way. I get it, so no worries. I know you got my back. :)

Blainebrook Bowl?

No, but it was very much similar to that place. It was Fitz's in Eagan.

Back in the day I used to frequent Blainebrook Bowl. Had my 21st birthday there (puked in the pool stick holder :) )

When I lived in cityslickerville back in 2001 (I lived in Highland Park) I would frequently visit a relative that lives in Blaine. We would wet our whistle at Blainebrook Bowl every once in a while for old times sake. We also visited Be Bops (?). I have a friend who works for 93X and we used to hit Povs as he usually mc'd some sort of thong or bikini deal every Thursday night. Cool story, I got to meet and get to know Tony Oliva. His son played in a band and Tony would watch his son play. We still email/text each other once in a while.

Blainebrook Bowl, Be Bops and Povs..........all classy joints. ;)

It's probably not a good idea to let a vacuum bag get quite that full....

Being a dive bar does not mean it's a bad bar, just that it possesses certain dive-like qualities. Some of the best bars you can find qualify as as dives. All being a dive bar means is that it's lacking some of that spit and polish you'll find in those fern bar places.

Exactly.

Afternoon Lodge.

Trying to get ready for the trip east. Behind in my prep for this one. Anyone know a Jersey Motel near the commuter rail lines and I-80 for easy ride into NYC?

Well that was fun.

How'd the lady friend do? I ask this, because LWB and I were saying last night that right now, she is "Norm's Wife From Cheers" to us. She exists, but we're still not totally believing that fact. ;)

When he introduces her to you all, you need to shout out "Vera!" altogether.
