Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Good Morning Lodge.

There has been a Five Guys in Edina for at least 4 years. Went there once and was underwhelmed. We got tons of fries for the price but they weren't very good, the burgers were nothing special either. Several local burger joints are better and the Fudruckers down the street is also better, and with more selection.

Never been to a Chic-fil-a.

Good morning Lodge.

I hate to admit that I am addicted to Chick-Fil-A. Had lunch at one in Pittsburgh last weekend. I have a friend that will drive from Ann Arbor to Toledo just to go to Chick-Fil-A.

The fries, unfortunately, suck and I can't figure out why everyone raves about them. Always soggy, to the point that I don't even order them anymore when I go.
Some people like their fries like that, and then cover them in malt vinegar to make them even more soggy. Their fries remind me of Boardwalk Fries, they just need some Old Bay to dump on the fries. Mmmm....Boardwalk Fries, how I miss you.

I remember going to A&W drive up where they put the tray on your window. I don't remember what we got for food but my brother and I got to split a chocolate shake and that was a big deal!
We have an A&W drive up still in operation in the town I work in. They close in the winter. They have car hops and trays they put on your window, and serve their rootbeer in chilled glass mugs.

Morning.

Another fall day in the 80s. Gotta like that!

October is a great month. All of the best birthdays are this month (not including all the fake centenarians on Oct 1), hockey starts, baseball playoffs start, the NBA is still irrelavant for another few weeks.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

There is one in Pine City MN (IIRC) that still has a drive-thru, classic style, option. So awesome.

Also, just east on 94, in Baldwin. I've stopped at that one several times.

edit: People like soggy fries? That is disgusting.

It looks like you need all sorts of correcting here. The NBA is never relevent.

I was referring to tv networks. not my personal opinion of it.

I just make it a point to avoid networks that talk about the NBA. I even turn off KFAN when they start talking about the pathetic Timberwolves or the not pathetic but equally boring Lynx.

Yeah, there is a local place with better burgers here as well, and about the same price. I have been to a poorly-managed Five Guys once - stale/dry buns, etc. and that experience was honestly almost as bad as Burger King. When you get to be a big chain, some locations are run better than others.

Hey! Don't be hatin' on the BK!

Sweet Jesus. I actually got tickets to George Strait and Eric Church in Omaha. They're nosebleeds, and they cost $120 each (face value), but **** if this isn't going to be the greatest show ever......

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

So I saw a picture on twitter of two Mercyhurst players side by side... Last names Cook and Bacon. They're Lodge legends.

I was asked today to help assist the Squirt A today here. This could be a really fun year of coaching.

I saw an email a few years back where two college football players (I forget which school; it's a southern one, though) were sitting on the bench together. The one to the left was named Dingle, and the one to the right was named Berry.

10/24/13 – fly to Michigan
10/27/13 – fly home to Boston
10/28/13 – fly to NYC
10/30/13 – fly to Minneapolis
11/4/13 – fly home to Boston
11/6/13 – fly to Atlanta
11/8/13 – fly home to Boston

Yeesh! And then I go to NYC over Thanksgiving and then Dallas first weekend of December.

Looks like my flying this past month:

9/5: Houston to Tampa
9/6: Tampa to White Plains, NYC
9/9: JFK to Tampa
9/17: Tampa to Houston
9/25: Birmingham, AL to Houston to Tampa
9/26: Tampa to Albany
9/29: Albany to Tampa
9/30: Tampa to Birmingham.

Hope yours went as smooth as mine did. No real issues, flight wise. No horrible babies either, at least nothing that made me want to punt them.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

A&W - nummy! There was one in Grand Forks that was great. Mushroom burger, onion rings and root beer. Ummmm.
The only A&W close to Grand Forks when I lived there was in Fargo...but that even closed too. They're not bad for fast food.

I don't mind soggy fries. I think it has more to do with the fact that I love fries though.

Who books your travel? That first flight back to Boston is a waste, and you can argue the 2nd might be too.

I've had times when I've had travel like this. I think my worse stint was Minneapolis-Seattle-Anchorage-Minneapolis-Amsterdam-Glasgow-Amsterdam-Minneapolis in a week and 2 day period. With another trip to Amsterdam about a week and a half later. But ****, did I pile up the miles. Not getting nearly enough now, so I will probably be losing my status on Delta this year, despite a trip to Mumbai on the list. :(
