Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Cool.

My grandfather (dad's side) was armed forces boxing champ back in the day. I have no idea when that would have been but I could find out. He was one tough sob. Maybe my grandpa kicked the shiat out of yours or vice versa. ;).

My gramps used to tell me that back in the day he would attend barn dances. At the end of the night it came down to two guys and one lady. My gramps always left with the lady. He also told me he had the horses trained to take the "long way home". If you know what I mean. :)

Sorry to carry on a bit, but just remembered this little story:

There was an old war photo, grandpa told kids, who told their kids....he snuck up behind the Germans and took the pic. For DECADES, this was truth....until one day, my mom finally noticed, and asked, "Wait...they are smiling for the camera."

Classic grandpa. :)

The spammers are now posting to Groups http://board.uscho.com/group.php where I doubt many people see the messages except for those like me who hit the "Whats New?" link when wanting to hit the "Forum" link.

edit: reported.

Hmmm. Board removed this stuff early in the morning but didn't remove the offenders who are still spamming several times a minute.

Edit: See http://board.uscho.com/search.php?searchid=401004. The spammers are really churning it out. I reported it again.

This is not my year for credit card fraud. I logged into my bank account online, looking at my list of accounts and check on my credit card only to see that there's a hold on my card. W TF? It turns out some people tried to make a $150 lunch/dinner purchase and buy $110 worth of flowers. This is a different card than the Chinese got earlier this year - that one was my own stupidity.

I had that problem last week. Someone made two purchases, each for about $5 (go figure) in Brasher Falls, NY. (Must be a Clarkson fan.)

Common procedure for fraud: make a couple cheap purchases to make sure the info is good, then go nuts.

I'll go back to reading the spam messages on Groups. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Shovel is all mine today. Just found out my grandpa died this morning. Even though we knew his days were numbered, still a huge loss. Last remaining grandparent of mine. Was lucky enough to have 4 grandparents, and 3 great grandparents growing up. Also, it's been twice in a row we've had 4 generations of of my family living at the same time. Hopefully my parents will live long enough to see their great-grandkids, to keep that streak going. :(
*hugs*
Sorry, Brent.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Sorry Brent. You were lucky to have had him that long and known so many of your ancestors. My son has really only known one grandfather. His two grandmothers both died when he was 2 so he doesn't remember them. My dad died several years before he was born. I have very vague memories of my dad's mom and just a little more of his dad. My mom's parents both died well before I was born (her mom while my mom was a teenager and her dad before my mom met my dad).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Morning.

Trying to make the difficult call to withdraw my acceptance from my first job offer. But no one is answering, which is making this worse.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Condolences Brent. At least you had him for a long time, and got to know so many grandparents and great grandparents.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Sorry to hear, Brent.

Work is crazy for me still. Back at my desk for today, before having to head to Houston on Sunday. The rest of that trip (I was originally supposed to fly from Houston to southern New Mexico for the second half of the week) was cancelled by the customer, very late, and with the change of the flights and change fees Delta is raking us over the coals for about $1600 for this trip. Ouch. Thanks alot to the customer for that one.

Was in Houghton earlier this week. It was good. Talked to plenty of good engineering candidates, and drank a good amount of KBC.
