Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Hi Lodge!!!!!!! How is everyone today???? I'm great!!! I still had my migraine-y headache this morning, but I don't care!!!!!!!! I am still so giddy after the game last night!!

OK. Enough of that. Sorry. I am not a gloater so I will not say anything more here.

Greetings from Minneapolis. Or somewhere close. When I drove here to the office today, we took 494W to 100N and for off at Xenia Park Place. Is that considered Minneapolis? On 494 I saw a city marker for Edina. Not really sure exactly where I am. Person here at the office said the West End area is very close. Can you guys let me know?

The fog here is a pain. I hope it does not prevent Sarah Hughes from landing tonight. Got to meet her Tuesday and we chatted college hockey. Turns out she was Red Hot Hockey at MSG every time I was there. And she's going again this year. I told her I was there for Yale's national championship and showed her my pics and she was suitably impressed. Then she told me she and her family are close friends with Former BU captain Matt Gilroy and his family and I was like "I'm friends with his mom on Facebook!! OMG!" Ha! We are now BFFs.

Oh, and I know I said I was done mentioning it but bbdl - I just saw that Eric Church was at Fenway with Kenny Chesney last night. I don't get that but OK.

I think the city at Xenia place is Golden Valley where you are now. No matter the city name, it's maybe a mile west of the Minneapolis city border. The West End has some good dining choices around there, but people from that part of town could give you a much better list than I ever could.

You probably drove into one of the 10,000 lakes. ;)

There are eight lakes within three miles of where she's working right now. And a few ponds not large enough to be worthy of the title "lake". :p

And there are more than 14,000 lakes, but 10,000 just sounds better as a slogan.

Scarlet: You are indeed in Golden Valley and very close to bigblue's favorite bar (and maybe MNS and Brent's) which is in the West End. It's about a half mile south of where you are. You drove right past Jr's school on Highway 100 (and MNS's alma mater).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

And Jr just got watch his school win another title as BSM beats Blake 1-0 for state girls 1A soccer title. Third year in row they have met for State. Time for both to move up to 2A in soccer!

You're right next to a little bar known as Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill! Its comes highly recommended.

Golden Valley. Had you taken a left onto Park Place instead of a right onto Xenia, you would have been in St. Louis Park and West End would have been on your left. In addition to passing my HS alma mater you also passed my K-8 alma mater (Our Lady of Grace) in Edina, and my house (You should have waved).

And, more importantly, it's also Mrs. Eagle's alma mater!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Good evening Lodge.

Welcome to MN Scarlet. If I was visiting cityslickerville I would offer to meet up and buy you a martini. Best of luck with your work thingamajig you are here for.

We just finished up trick or treating. The boys had a blast.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

I did see Toby Keith's. Nice area.

Worked longer than I thought. Went to the MofA for dinner. It was crazy - it was like Halloween threw up there. Gave me another headache.

So, the Road to Sochi event is in the lot across from the West parking structure. However, there will be part of it that will be in the Rotunda inside the mall. We tried to find an easy way to walk from the Rotunda to the outside area. It was not easy. This is not going to be easy to deal with. Hmmmm. Hope some of you can maybe drop by. I may not be at the booth the whole time but I will be somewhere in the area.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Perkin's is bland. It's the pasty (Yooper) of breakfasts.

West End is nice. TK's is highly recommended (I mean, the food is good not great, but for a fun night/live music that's not downtown, it's awesome), and the Cooper Pub has decent food, too. Haven't had any other food in that area.

If anyone needs a job, stop by my place of employment in Plymouth and ask for info. I think we are hiring 1-2 more people. Hope you like longer hours and an odd schedule (FT is 9:30am-whenever; PT is either 10-4 or 1-7, IIRC). Dunno what positions are being offered. This is the info I got from my immediate boss.

Very much looking forward to the weekend.
