Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #167: Weather

Just picked the lad up from SJU, he had a terrific year & next stop for him is Piccadilly Circus!! At this point the boss, lass, & I plan to meet him on London for New Year's. Should be fun!

Good luck Mav.....and other's pretty much have it covered. I don't have any idea if this is common behavior or something new but you need to ask yourself if her behavior is something you can tolerate for a long time. :)

Not your fault.
What's inside te skull -unfortunately- is not visible.

No, but when I doubled my efforts to try and make it work, that was all on me. Seriously, you can't negotiate with true, completely divorced from reality crazy.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #167: Weather

Thanks all for the advice.

I guess it confuses me more than anything because we've had plenty of nights that "the spark" is not only back, but better than it was before. I guess things have even unstable like this or a month or so now.

I'm not quite ready to move on for the simple fact that virtually all of her friends are moving back home and she is staying here to work, work out, and take six credits. Finals are done today, and next week none of her friends will be here. She's virtually going to have nothing but time on her hands to think about things, if she misses me, etc.
The directing force in this shouldn't be what she is doing but what you are doing. "The spark" is not an indicator of what works in a long term relationship. It is like flash bang fireworks. Pleasure to experience but over quick. As I told Lil once- relationships should be work once in awhile and will be if you value them. They should not be constant work for one person with the other person as the beneficiary. Run don't walk away.

Well called my mom and it sounds like the ol' geezer ain't done living yet. He SHOULD be out the hospital soon and into a nursing home. Waiting on a call tonight. Probably will day trip down to Rochester MN tomorrow. Depends on what I hear tonight.

Good evening Lodge.

Little g has his first baseball game of the season tomorrow. Miracle League. He has been practicing and he is pumped to play ball!

For those of you keeping score from home...........little g turns 7 next week. Time flies..........

Well, he'll be in a nursing home either Mon or Tue. He's not eating (it seems like he's making a conscious choice to refuse food), but is drinking stuff like Ensure with no hassle. Not good, but better than nothing, I suppose.

This is the first time that I've ever really had to "work". The whole spark thing you're talking about.. Wouldn't that be what sets your relationship as best friends above and beyond "high school love," etc? Like I've started wondering if this is us maturing as best friends and as a long term relationship.. And we haven't quite understood that feeling?

I'm confused, so kind of thinking out loud.

Thank you!

Well to me the spark thing is the excitement of the chase and the newness of things. From what I have seen over the yrs wild sparks are great for setting flash fires but don't leave much left after the flash. The slow burn is the lasting stuff. Probably not making sense. I just know in my experience it is unusual for very, very intense relationships to sustain well. It is unrealistic for someone to expect the intensity to last forever.

Probably a weird analogy but pts who do heroin have described to me the initial hit is the most intense pleasure they have ever experienced in their life and they spend the rest of their addiction chasing after that feeling but never quite achieving it, even to the point of destroying themselves and their relationships. When I read the bit about chasing the spark this is what I thought of.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #167: Weather

The flash is lust.
The long term caring/feeling/no real "work" is love.
