Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #162: Love Is In the Air

So I go dang near blind for 10-20 minutes a few times every few months. (happens every other day for two weeks, goes away for three months, repeat) Should I go to the doctor? It has only been going on for a year or so.

/no insurance problems
Could they be ocular migraines? I get them although not nearly that frequently.

Morning/Afternoon.

G, sorry to hear about your loss. Glad you had some time with him at the end.

On a bit more of an uplifting note, I bought an engagement ring today. Who saw that coming?
Planning to ask while on vacation in Hawaii later this month.

Good for you JF!

Interview was fantastic. The counselor I talked with was very excited about what my proposals were and how they matched up with the needs of two particular elementary schools. I'm going to be connected to a program through the YMCA that will help me spearhead a mentoring program in two elementary schools. Meet once a week for lunch with a student that really needs it. I'm very excited.:)

So sorry for your loss gmann. :( I hope the little guys are taking it OK. At least he didn't linger with all the pain that the cancer would have brought.

Is anyone else a little concerned about our Mavsy mentoring young kids? Isn't it bad enough to have him coaching? :p

JF :eek::eek: Best wishes!

So the sinkhole that has presumably swallowed a man in his bedroom in Florida? Yep, less than 10 miles from my house. Whee!

That is up there with the epic ways to go. Other ways such as skydiving accident, falling into an active volcano and skydiving into an active volcano. Maybe I'll add that of ways to go that I wouldn't mind.

Just going ahead and taking my seat at the *HT now.

Any advice for adjusting to third shift?

Some people treat the third shift like a regular day. Wake up, get ready, go to work, and then the morning is their "evening." When I worked third shift, I usually woke up in the afternoon, did whatever, worked, and then went to bed right when I got home. It's a matter of what will work best for you. Also, I'd make sure NO light gets into your bedroom if you're anything like me. I needed it completely dark during the day to get quality sleep.

1st shift! :p

Alright. There are some things I can do right now to prepare for what awaits. I can start staying up later, sleeping later, start drinking coffee in the evening, that sort of thing.

Any advice for adjusting to third shift?

I worked second shift through some of my college days. I'd go to work, get home around 1 AM, fart around on the Internet a few hours, then go to bed. Wake up around 10 the next morning and have a few hours to do whatever with. Good for running errands because everything was open during the day. In your case, you can work midnight-8, get off, run any errands you have while everything's open, then go home and crash pretty much as hard as you want. Wake up, have a few hours of R&R during the evening hours, then go to work.

Also, take a vitamin D supplement. Most of your body's vitamin D comes from sunlight, so Alaskans take one in the winter months when there's not as much sun. Keeps your immune system up and gives extra energy.
