Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

I am having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Coffee spilled while trying to get into the car. The remote starter decided not to work this morning. Mr. wore Black took my car yesterday and doesn't know how to straighten out a steering wheel, as a result, when backing out this morning, I almost hit his car. Front driver side tire light came on and is low. My lens on my glasses popped out and my frames have bent. I am going to hide from the rest of the world for the remainder of the day.

Lock an infant in a room and force him to listen to Skrillex.

Made it home. Interesting day. Got a tour of the Olympic Training Center. Had lunch in the athletes dorms and three athletes joined us. One was a national champion pairs figure skater. He was there rehabbing after surgery on a torn labrum. Apparently Ryan Lochte was there but sadly I didn't see him. We spent time with a coach from USA Shooting who had won a silver medal in Barcelona and had the medal in his pocket to show us. And we all got to shoot air rifles and pistols. It was....interesting. The air rifle was better for me. We had a Paralympian swinner as a tour guide. He was pretty cool.

Naturally I had drama at the office and it would have been better if I was here. I am not looking forward to my day tomorrow.

Just found out that the award ceremony in the Abgeordnetenhaus in Berlin that I decided not to go to will be streamed on the internet. (If anyone didn't catch my previous message, I wrote a seconding letter for a nomination for one of the winners. I was not an awardee.)

Good morning Lodge.

Went to leave work yesterday and my car wouldn't start. Stupid coldest day of the year. Tried jumping it, still wouldn't start. Got a ride home from a coworker. Bought a new battery and bf and I came out to replace the battery. Still won't start. Tried to jump/charge the new battery. Still won't start. Gave up, got home around 9 pm.

Bf drove me in to work today. My car is still sitting in the parking lot, useless. Guessing it's something with the starter. As crappy as not having a working car is, I'm very grateful it waited until I was back from my UP trip this weekend before acting up.

Good Morning Lodge. Dropped the Mrs. off at the airport so she can fly to PA to see her dad (he's not doing well). Had to use my key to get in the office for the second time since I started here in June.

Abgeordnetenhaus ... I was not an awardee.

Ralph was robbed! (I have no clue what kind of award he's talking about)

Good luck to your FiL. :(

I wouldn't be eligible. :D

It's an award for non-Jews in Germany who have helped preserved Jewish history there. I was one of eight people who nominated Rolf Kießling last year, and he was one of the five winners. http://www.obermayer.us/award/2013/2013.htm I probably should have gone, but I was concerned about what the weather could be like. Four of his eight nominators are going, but two live in Germany, so two of the six foreigners are going. I don't know how many of the people who nominated the other winners are going. I was a nominator for someone else two years earlier, but he didn't win.

From looking at the pictures from previous presentations and banquets, they seem to make a big deal of it. The ceremony is held at the Abgeordnetenhaus von Berlin (Berlin House of Representatives or Landtag). It's the Parliament for the City-State of Berlin.
