Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

Good morning Lodge.

Went to leave work yesterday and my car wouldn't start. Stupid coldest day of the year. Tried jumping it, still wouldn't start. Got a ride home from a coworker. Bought a new battery and bf and I came out to replace the battery. Still won't start. Tried to jump/charge the new battery. Still won't start. Gave up, got home around 9 pm.

Bf drove me in to work today. My car is still sitting in the parking lot, useless. Guessing it's something with the starter. As crappy as not having a working car is, I'm very grateful it waited until I was back from my UP trip this weekend before acting up.
Why would you buy a new battery if it wouldn't start when you tried to jump it?

Tap the starter with a hammer. Might have a bad spot on it. Otherwise, I'd guess starter solenoid.

It might not be the starter. A few years ago my car wouldn't start when I got to the park and ride. I tried getting a jump, changing out the battery, much of the same things you've done. It was just cold outside. The daily high temps were around -5 to -10, and the lows much colder. Then we got a day of around 15 degrees some three or four days later, and it started up without a problem. Thankfully, I had another car available to me at the time. I'd be hosed now.

I was one of eight people who nominated Rolf Kießling last year...
That last name, for the non-German speaking among us, could be read as Keissling. The B-looking thingy is the German double-ss, an ess-set.

Bought a battery because it was the original on an '07. Probably time for a new battery anyway...and bf claimed it had been starting slow.

I'm planning to take a hammer to the starter at lunch time, that is if I can find it/reach it.

Mornin'/afternoon all. It's been a productive morning on my end. Also picked up two extra student tickets for the rodent invasion this weekend.

Why not? I've gone to another school, bought the student price ticket while wearing the opposition's jersey. Only to have them say, "wait, are you a student here? Those prices are for our students. Oh well, enjoy the game".

And if anyone wants to come to a game at Yost, while I can't get you a student ticket, I can get you into the student section.

Good Afternoon Lodge. Wow, do I hate Cornell week; the spillover is just plain maddening...
