Only one other guy came to my conversation. :p It was tough to compete with a Somalian man though, who works with a community center for Somlian kids. He had an idea about helping improve and renovate it. That attracted the majority of the class.

Probably secretly going to turn into a piracy recruiting center and begin attacking the great lakes and Mississippi River. My Marine Security awareness levels have gonna to Marsec 2. Thanks for the tip ;)

I'm hoping if there are service hours required that this will suffice; takes up a ton of my extra time on and off the ice.

It was interesting, to say the least. We gathered in a conference room with no desk or tables, just an oval of 40 chairs. No syllabus talk or anything like that. Our professor flat out told us he was just here as a host, that we would be conducting the content.

We were asked to write down our name and a few words about community leadership, a type of leadership, an idea, or something that we wanted to learn throughout the course. Of the 40 kids in class, I think 10 of us did so.

We then posted these on the wall, and picked one of two twenty minute time slots, as well as a station number to gather at.

I wrote down Make a Difference Uniquely. Not sure that I worded it correctly, but I wanted to stress and discuss that I feel it's important for each individual to help impact people with their strengths.

I'd have gone to yours. I don't give a flying **** about some Somalian Community Center that is probably used as a front to recruit jihad ****heads.

I don't think I want to road trip from DC to Pittsburgh for the games. ;)

After looking last night I have decided that hotels close to the arena are really **** expensive. I don't want to do it, but I think I'd have to get a hotel out of downtown and cab it. I still need to find some people to spit a hotel with, regardless. I want to make this as cheap of a trip as possible, and I'm on my way, with the $500 Delta voucher I have.

Be forwarned!!! Pittsburgh is NOT a wave down a cab city. You need to call the taxi companies and request pick up.

No problem.

I was kind of surprised to hear about it.. I've lived here 20 years and never heard one word about the place..kind of sketches me out right there.

People from Edina get rental cars or personal car service when they travel, so you don't have to worry about this.
:
Well yeah, usually but not if I'm staying in a downtown hotel. I'm too cheap to pay the parking fees. In Boston I take the T, in DC the metro, in Chicago the el or busses. I thought you would move to a more civilized city!

Not only that, but they're the Somali man, and Somali woman. When you talk about them in a group, then they're Somalians. Working in Minneapolis, you learn useless junk like that.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

Stupid question, but I figured I'd ask anyways:

My roommate got a 42" tv from her parents for Christmas. It's pretty much the only thing she got since it's a big ticket item. She wants to put it in downstairs as the main TV, which could be a problem...

My dream TV went on sale this week and it's pretty much the best TV Panasonic offers and it's 65". I want to buy this thing and put it downstairs and start building the master entertainment room. Obviously we're not even a month past Christmas and this was a gift from her parents. I don't want to be the jack*ss and completely upstage her parents. If I buy this TV, what's the best (and nicest) way to basically tell her I'm putting the 65" TV down there and she can do whatever with her's?

Radical idea, tell the truth? :D
She might be thinking she's doing you a favor by putting hers downstairs....

Right there.
It's your house and, ultimately, you'll have to furnish it all yourself. If you want to start putting in the things you want to make it the way you want it, you have every right to.

Why not both?

Well, that's the obvious choice... :)

Right there.

I know I have the right to, I just don't want to be the complete dick who upstages someone's parents less than a month after Christmas..

Why not both?

This is an interesting idea, but it means having to pay Comcast that much more a month. ;)

Just do it. If your roommate asks why just tell her that some guy named gmann from a college hockey online forum said so. That's why. You are welcome. ;)

If its your place, diplomatically inform her of your decision. As stated earlier, why not utilize both? Think of it as the ultimate pip.

Edit. I have a 50" Panasonic. No complaints on it. I am shopping for another tv that's a bit bigger for another room that has quite a bit of sun. Looking at LCD. Where are you getting the 65" from?

Just don't be an a-hole in the process of explaining it, and you should be fine. Besides, then you can inform her that she gets a 42" in her room.

I've got a 42" on my wall here. I couldn't imagine a 65" in my living room.
