Also, I really feel sorry for you relatively normal (as far as I can tell) SCSU fans. Do you have to put up with that kind BS all the time?
Yes, which is why I'm almost 100% off the D1 board.

Somebody in that thread said some St Cloud players were growing their hair for Locks Of Love. First thing I thought was:

Just imagine the poor kid, grateful to get some hair after that awful chemo treatment, and then the doctor says, "It came from a Div I hockey player." And the kid goes, "Uhhhh, you know what? Thanks anyway, but I think I'm good." :D

But I'm not posting it in there, man! You never know when people will take things the wrong way. I think it's obvious it's a good-natured joke. I have a kid who plays hockey, everybody on here knows people who play hockey or play hockey themselves, and everybody knows what it's like when you take your helmet off. Anyway, I figure Teh Lodge can handle it.

As to the flu comments, CNN has a quick article on the flu vaccine. http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/10/health/flu-vaccine-effectiveness/index.html?hpt=hp_c1

I don't think anyone *likes* needles poking them, but you just have a sac up and take them like a man. (Unless you want to wuss out and get the nasal vaccine.) I donate blood and never look at the needle going into my arm. Once it's in there, though, then I'm fine.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

I'm not a real big fan of needles. Not scared of them, and I don't really have a problem with them if I need a shot, or to have blood drawn, but if given the choice, I'll take not getting a shot. I actually hate those **** finger *****er things more than needles, and I don't know why. They slightly hurt for about a second then its back to normal, but I still hate them.
Yeah, I'm usually fine with needles, as long as I don't have to watch. That whole needle into the eyelid thing?? *full body shudders*

Really do hate those finger things too when they're testing the iron in your blood for giving blood. hurts, and I've got the additional problem of a cut on my fingertip to deal with for when I'm at work.

Another thing that really sucks?? That Glaucoma test where they shoot that puff of air into your eyeball. Just a hell of a thing knowing its coming and having to hold still for it.

So, I try to start up my washer. Nope, not working. Great. Call maintenance. Decide to go take a shower. Um, no water. ...the hell? Call maintenance back. OOPS, apparently the workers doing update-fixes on the elevator broke a water pipe. They don't have an estimated time on getting the water back either. Great. Just wonderful.

I'm the opposite. I watch. That way you know when it's coming.

If worse comes to worse, I'll just head to bbdl's earlier than planned and clean up before we head to Daloot.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

You work with my co-worker, too?

I hate needles, and I think the flu shot is pointless, so obviously no flu shot for me. (and before you ask, tatt needles are different for me; dunno why, they just are)
A guy likes tattoos dislikes needles!?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

I used to be afraid of needles, until I had to have one put in my eyelid. Ya, not so much afraid of a shot in the arm anymore.

I had a procedure on my big toe a few years ago. Big azz needle. One injection on the top of my toe (downwards behind the nail) and another shot sideways into the middle of the toe.

+1.

S'upp y'all

Mookie loves needles! **** near always has one on him. Butt, leg, belly... No problems :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

Needles don't bother me. I'd get a flu shot if I thought it would help. Apparently we're at epidemic-like stage here in Boston. I don't know if it would help or not. Plus, since they inject a strain of the virus, I don't actually want to get sick.

And St. Clown, I stopped D1 cold turkey. It was a New Year's resolution. Eleven days and counting......

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

I don't mind needles. Give blood all the time. Agreed that the finger ***** is the worst part.

As for the flu shot, I don't bother. I think my immune system is fairly strong because I don't rely on medicine to make me better. That, and I like to rationalize not spending time or money on drugs and doctors.

Edit: really? I can't say pr!ck? Completely innocent context.

It's a misconception that you can get the flu from a flu shot. You are injected with a dead strain. You may get muscle soreness or other symptom a few days later, but its not the flu.
