Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #158: Lodge Member's Habits

I already know how to play the trombone, Euphonium, tuba, trumpet, and piano (which means mallets as well)

I want to get a better grasp on the woodwinds and strings, but I MUST learn the banjo and the bagpipes before I croak.

I can play trumpet, piano (and mallets) well. I can make music come out of a clarinet or alto sax (at like a middle school band kid level). Bass guitar is what I keep telling myself I want to learn. But I never buy one. I almost bought a squeeze box at the thrift store. It was pretty, but it cost $400. And really, what would I do with an accordian?

I've done the exact same thing. (*Not* bought a squeezebox / concertina, that is.) The band I used to be in did a set of Irish / Appalachian / Americana music, and I got to play Irish whistle on those; but I always eyed the concertinas on eBay, dreaming of squeezebox glory . . . :o

I played guitar from age 7 until 11. Sax from 6th to 8th grade.

A nice foggy night in Tennessee. Going to be an easy night I reckon.
pushed up on some river bank until the fog lifts?? How is the river been lately. Word is pretty soon they're going to have to shut down the Mississippi from St. Louis to Cairo, Illinois because of low water and rock formations in the river where you just couldn't sneak a barge thru.

The same thing you would do with a pair of bagpipes.....

Annoy the neighbors with it. :D

Grrrr... working our way thru the post thanksgiving lull right now at work. Been pretty slow lately, and there hasn't been a whole lot of last minute walk-ins. Only 2 appointments on the books tonight for me. at least the contractors were in yesterday and got the new parking spots paved. Hoping they hurry up and get the rest of the addition all closed up. still think they need to finish the roof up there, and get the siding and windows as well.

Yep, pushed into the bank just before I came up to work, and didn't clear up until almost 830 this am. Was down around 35 last night, cold air on (relatively) warm water makes me happy.

Eh, don't get me wrong, the river is still low, but still a few feet from historic levels. I don't run north of Cairo, so I can't say for sure how bad it could be up there, but we are pretty much where we have been most of the summer for water levels on the lower half of the Miss. Shutting flow from the Missouri won't help, but with any luck we won't see shutdowns on the waterways.

Started playing Clarinet in 4th grade, swapped to bass clarinet from 7-11. For never truly practicing, I would always end up nailing the recital pieces by the time the shows happened.

Picked out a Christmas tree tonight. Went with a ten footer. Looks good. Smells good. Tis the season.
