Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #158: Lodge Member's Habits

I'm sure my first game was a high school game and it's reasonable to assume Edina won it. I don't remember who won my first college game, but the Gophers were really bad that year (70-71) so they probably lost, but I kept going and they got better. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #158: Lodge Member's Habits

My first game was either January or February of my freshman year. It might have been vs. Lake State. I believe Michigan won. I was kind of busy playing trumpet and having someone explain what the heck was going on to me. My knowledge of hockey at that point was that the object is to put the puck in the net and that there's ice, sticks and a goalie. I went because someone in hockey band needed a sub. The next year I joined hockey band.

Since the earliest program that I have is the first game my freshman year, that must have been the first game I attended. RPI defeated Carleton University (of Ottawa) 9-5. That's about a month's worth of goals these days. :(

My first high school game = win over Teddy Roosevelt High. :)
My first North Star game = loss to the Blackhawks.
My first SCSU game = win over Regina U. (Saskatchewan)
My first Gopher game at Mariucci = loss to SCSU. (It was the soccer game, 3-2 win for SCSU, kicking in two goals. The blue hairs in the stands around me gave me the evil eye - because I cheered.)
My first Wild game = loss to the Sharks. They lost the second game I attended, too. I've not been back to the X for a Wild game.

Good morning, I am pretty sure my first game was a WCHA game against Michigan in the mid-70s and Michigan had a player named Angie. That went over big with goldy and his friend in the 3rd deck. :)

An-gie, an-gie, an-gie....

My high school classmate who played goal in'75 called him "the best-worst player" he had seen.
Couldn't skate or stickhandle but was incredibly effective. Camped in front of the net and scored rebounds and deflections.

My first fame would have been in the igloo in the late 70s or early 80s and I can bet the pens lost :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #158: Lodge Member's Habits

My first hockey game may have been the Sabres... not sure if I ever went to the Aud, but the first I can recall was in 2008; Slick Willie was in attendance. If I didn't go to the Aud, my first ever game was RPI vs. UCONN back in 2004. That's at least the first one I can remember.

My first game was at the Alfond when I was a kid. My brother and I would walk the mile to go to a game. Couldn't tell you who they played or who won.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #158: Lodge Member's Habits

Probably a Detroit Vipers game, back in the days of the old IHL. In the 90s the Vipers were pretty good and actually a legit alternative to Wings games for people in the northern 'burbs who didn't want to pay NHL prices, and families who didn't want their kids to see the rowdy, beer-fueled crowds that JLA used to have. Samsonov and Thomas each played a season with them, and during the '95 lockout they also briefly had Peter Bondra and Phil Bourque.

Then around 2000 they became Tampa Bay's second-rate farm team and were never worth watching again.

Don't remember my first SLU game, probably mid 90's though.

At Tampa airport, flying to Nash Vegas for the night, then off to the boat in the morning. Not ready to go back, but my bank account says otherwise.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #158: Lodge Member's Habits

My first hockey game was a North Stars tie with the Whale.
First Sioux game was against the Gophers at the old Mariucci...don't remember who won.
First Sioux game as a student was a loss to Michigan Tech.
First Wild game was a preseason loss to the Blues at The Ralph.
First HS game was an SLP win against (Cooper?...before the bagel incident game).
First BSM game was a win over Prior Lake.
First BSM game as a player, I don't remember who we played, but I believe we lost.

Father in law had heart surgury today.....so far so good.....keep him in your happy thoughts. :)

cc to MNS - I think he had retired from BSM by the time you went there....

My first game was a Baltimore minor league game, IIRC.
First game NHL game would have been MN-PITT around 71 or 72, my grandpa brought me to a game when we were backn in MN (from MD) for Christmas.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #158: Lodge Member's Habits

I don't remember my first hockey game that I attended. All I know it was the Milwaukee Admirals.
First SCSU game: 1998 at the Bradley Center against Colorado College. CC won. Still have the hockey stick from the CC player. Not knowing 10 years later I would be graduating from SCSU.
First games as a student at SCSU: SCSU swept Wisconsin (2003).
Last games as a student at SCSU: SCSU swept Wisconsin (2008).
