I think that is one of the features that they are hoping to enable with this new phone system, according to the information I was eventually told. I'm pretty sure it wasn't possible with the old one, as it seemed pretty archaic.

He's in the same room with us, so no. Besides he's way too shy with girls to worry about that. I'm more worried about his teammates causing problems...

So it'll be a long day for everyone else at work?

Jr's travel tourney is this weekend in Duluth. Found out the BSM girls JV and Varsity are in a tourney up there too. He learned yesterday they are in the same hotel as us. Nothing bad could come of this, could it? He knows a girl on the JV and one on the Varsity (one freshman from English, one senior from French) and one of the assistant coaches is his learning lab teacher (fancy name for study hall).

I didn't know that they have teams for Bondage and SadoMasochism. Are you sure that nothing bad could come of it?

Kinda, I'm the team manager. If problems develop, I'll hear about it. Besides I don't want these hooligans either a)besmirching the reputation of Edina or b)besmirching Jr's rep at BSM.

Edina? You may still be from Edina, but when people see BSM, they don't associate it with Edina. I think Edina's reputation is safe and secure.

Right, but he plays for Edina and his teammates are all Edina. If they cause trouble, it'll be on Edina. They'll be running around the hotel with their green sweatshirts on. Yeah, if I thought the BSM girls were going to cause trouble, I would be less concerned. I think they'll be on a shorter leash than our boys will be, plus we have some kids that can get in trouble anywhere, anytime.

Private schools don't often have a youth program. It's one of the things that irks the public school coaches.

For the most part school hockey in MN starts with JV and ends with Varsity. Unfortunately since he carries half his genes from me, he is unlikely to ever make either of those - although he'll try out for JV next year as a soph. Doubt he'll play hockey for BSM. He will try out for golf in the spring and soccer in the fall and because they aren't limited in numbers, he will probably play both. Or he may go out for the sailing club in the spring and I think he'll be great at that if he does. He's a natural sailor.

I guess I just didn't think that the Edina association would allow players that aren't in the Edina school system anymore to participate. Or any association, not just Edina, because of the problem that the public schools have with the private schools not having youth programs.

The youth associations are entirely funded by the players' families. No public funds go into them. I grew up in Apple Valley, but was in the Rosemount High School district. Because of that, I played in the Rosemount Area Athletics Association. A guy who lived a few blocks away from me also attended Rosemount, his parents had him play in the Apple Valley association until we got into high school and then he switched to the Rosemount association. The schools can't dictate who's allowed into the various youth programs, no matter how much the high school coaches would prefer otherwise.
