Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Most every game this weekend is an exhibition game, is it not?
We've got one of each. We open Saturday night at Maine followed by a 4:00 Sunday exhibition at home with a 7 hour bus ride in between.

Funny you should say that. Everyone is saying/posting/shouting from the rooftops that the season starts this weekend. Most every game this weekend is an exhibition game, is it not? Which is fine. I'm going. It just makes me roll me eyes though when the people who are all "Yay!! Hockey starts this weekend!!!!" are the same ones who moan about having to pay for the ticket. Is it a game or isn't it? If it's a game that's the start of the season and they have to operate an arena because of it, then you kinda sorta have to pay for it, no?
I don't consider it the start to the season until a real game is played. Taking the exhibition games as the start of the season is akin to considering the NFL preseason as the start of the NFL season. That doesn't mean I won't be paying attention to what Tech does in their exhibition game, because I will, but it is simply the preseason.

Sounds like somebody needs to put together a group ticket package . . .

(And by "somebody" I mean "somebody other than me" :D)

I've always had access to a luxury box for the F5 (a total of 20 tickets), but I've never had enough interest from people in getting it.

Gopher Hockey's official stance is that the season doesn't start until the 12th. They have an exhibition game against Lethbridge this weekend. I think most schools would take the same stance.

It might be an exhibition against Lethbridge, but it will beat the hell out of the bantam tryouts that I'll be sick of by Saturday night!

OK. Sundays are a busy, working day for us freelance musicians (I'm already working a 9:30 and a 5:00) but if I can make it I'll be there. We watch on Summit Avenue, just after mile 22. See you there, maybe. :) In any event, run your race, man! Good luck!
Thanks man! If you make it, maybe you can have a big sign or something... I've never had someone waving a sign for me before.

I wonder how many final five mornings my first thought will be "Where am I?" this year. I can't wait to find out.

Think our dogs are accepting our visitor for the week. Had one of them out with him for a bit, the calmer of the two Jack Russles. She didn't want to rip his throat out like she would have done with her sister. She just kind of snapped at him when he got too rough with a big old lab paw on her. Might try him some time with the other one. he's a little bigger, so it might work out ok for them to rough house a bit. Hopefully that's what they'll do. At least he's not snarling so much whenever Onyx goes by his crate.

I'm just happy that I have to walk a few blocks to the tailgate instead of driving 20 minutes each morning this year. ;)

I found out that Ace Hardware sells Craftsman tools now. It makes me think that even Craftsman is preparing for the inevitable death of Sears. I never would have guessed.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

I plan on making the tailgate with pops one of these days this year. We've always sort of just done our own thing, but this years tailgate seems to be a must!

I've got mostly Craftsman hand/mechanics tools, so that's good news to me. I'll need somewhere to redeem my lifetime warranty. I'm at the point where I wished I would have splurged for Snap-On when I was younger, but I wasn't really in the position to do that.
