Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #155: Back to School

That makes no sense.

It's Twitch Boy. Are you surprised?

Our refrigerator crapped out today. It's running, but not cold. Not a great time for it to happen as we leave for the North Shore Friday morning. Hope we can find one that we like and is in stock, and will fit our small, old kitchen so we can get it before we leave.

Oh yeah, Eden Prairie's program looked really strong and BSM really down - varsity lost a bunch to graduation off the State title team from last year. EP swept C, B, JV and I assume Varsity as they were dominating when we left.

I talked with Dave a little before the season started, he seemed confident they would be strong by playoff time.....there is hope for T to miss a little school for a tourney game. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #155: Back to School

Didnt mind it until I had Calc 3 with Beckwith, that and who ever had the bright idea to use mathamatica

Mathematica was stupid, but easy to pass the assignments. Just transcribe the example problems and change stuff around as necessary.

Good idea for anyone struggling with calc: take it at a community college over the summer and transfer it in. Most community colleges offer it all the way up to Calc 3. It moves a lot slower and is easier to handle, plus you don't have to juggle it with your other classes during a regular semester.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #155: Back to School

Twitch speaks the truth about taking Calc at a community college. I had much less trouble with it there, for some reason.

goldy: hey, if I was running, I wouldn't be cool either. ;)

Evening, Lodge. Time to actually get some job applications completed and sent in... again. :o At least I got a promotion at one of my jobs - not a HUGE difference, but a step in the right direction. :)

If you can't handle calc, you shouldn't be an engineer. You'll have a very tough time getting through classes like fluid dynamics, heat transfer, vibrations and controls without an understanding of calc.

With that said, no matter what, 3-dimensional calculus is useless. :p

True. But sometimes, it's helpful to have a calc teacher who can speak, you know... English as a first language.

Also true, though I actually understood Calc 2 about halfway through Calc 3 when I had to do that stuff three times for each problem. :p

1 was no problem for me. Took it dual enrolled my senior year and smoked it. 2 wasn't really a problem either, though people say that's the hardest one because it goes really in depth. 3 is supposedly easier, but I had an unfortunate run-in with a Mr. Beckwith as well, took it over a summer at home, and did much better.

One of those classes where a good teacher can really help you.

For Calc at Tech, I had a Pakistani for Calc 1, an American for Calc 2, and the Scottish Cloud of Armpit Stank for Calc 3...The Pakistani was BY FAR the best Calc prof I had. I actually went back to him for a few questions in Calc 2, and he helped me out. The other 2 were as useless as **** on a boar.

Who has two thumbs and just picked up two sixers of KBC Red Jacket?

This guy! Good......no great stuff; thanks gents for introducing me to this wonderful concoction.

I never had one of the Pakistani or Indian professors (where even though English isn't usually a first language, it's usually the second) - had two Russians and a useless American professor instead.

:D

Yeah, Red Jacket is decent, but not my favorite KBC brew. Very reliable though, and easy to drink.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #155: Back to School

I had a Chinese professor once, couldn't understand a word he said. Not even at the end of the semester.
